What's new with the Aurora Luxe Cooling Hybrid?
It's been at least a couple of years since our Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Mattress review, and there have been a few design changes since then.
The most obvious change is the color scheme. Once navy and white, the Aurora Luxe now sports royal blue and copper tones, similar to the CopperFlex lineup of cooling mattresses.
Inside, the Aurora Luxe now features twice the comfort foam layers, including a 3.5lb layer of responsive, copper-infused foam, a 3lb layer of high-density memory foam, and a top layer of quilted foam. These foams are meant to deliver more body contouring and cooling than the previous model.
The option to add a pillow-top is still available, but that's been upgraded to include Brooklyn Bedding's new temperature-regulating ThermoPhase foam plus two layers of quilted foam — all wrapped in a GlacioTex cooling cover.
Even the support core's a little different this time around. In addition to reinforced coils along the sides for edge support, the center of the mattress has firmer springs for extra lumbar support.
You can still choose the firmness level you want: soft, medium, or firm. It also comes in RV king, if your camper bed needs a refresh ahead of your summer road trips.
As far as cooling mattresses go, the Aurora Luxe sits between upper mid-range and premium. But if you're hoping to spend a little less, here's what we recommend...
The mid-range alternative...
This is a step down from the Aurora Luxe, but in our opinion, still one of the best cooling mattresses you can buy It's loaded with infused foams designed to contour and breathe. It also sports a GlacioTex cooling cover and targeted lumbar support. Unlike the Aurora Luxe, it only comes in one firmness level, which BB rates a 7 out of 10. We agreed with that assessment in our review — we like it for back/side combi sleeping. At $932 for a queen after 30% off, it's the best value for a cooling hybrid we can find.
