Is the REI membership worth it?
For most shoppers yes the REI membership is worth it, the one time fee of $30 buys you a lifetime membership that gets you 10% back off full price items which is paid out each March. Members also get exclusive sales access and exclusive promo codes plus free standard shipping with no order minimum and a longer return window. If you shop at REI you're likely to make your money back.
Does REI offer free shipping?
Yes, REI members get free US standard shipping with no minimum order value. For non-members shipping is free on orders over $60.
However, oversized and bulk items still have shipping charges but can be picked up from store for free.
What is the REI return policy?
REI has a 100% satisfaction guarantee which gives members a full year to return most items, while non-members get 90-days. Outdoor electronics have a 90-day return regardless of membership. Items should be clean and free of damage or misuse. Returns by mail are paid for by the customer, but in-store is free.
What is the difference between REI outlet and Re/Supply
REI outlet is the clearance section for new gear such as past season sales like winter gear in the spring and overstocked items. Re/Supply is REI's used gear program where members can buy fully inspected and refurbed used gear for a fraction of the price.

Buy the Membership: The $30 lifetime fee is genuinely a great deal and gives you 10% off full priced items which pays for itself pretty past. You also get exclusive coupons, free shipping, longer returns and more. Its a must have.
Shop the Outlet: Past season colours, gear and overstock is marked down loads on the Outlet section at REI with savings up to 50%. The gear is brand new, just being rotated out of stock to make room for the newer styles.
Re/Supply: Members get access to fully inspected secondhand gear online for a fraction of the retail price with Re/Supply. You can also trade in your own used gear for a gift card to be used for your next upgrade.
Sign up for newsletters: By signing up to the newsletter at REI you get access to exclusive deals and discounts that are only sent via email. You can get everything from coupons to exclusive sales.
How to use a REI Promo Code
- Select the REI promo code you want to use and click 'Get Code'.
- Copy the code to your clipboard for later and head over the REI website.
- Add the items you want to buy to your basket.
- When you've finished shopping, click on your basket to head to the checkout.
- On the right hand side of the screen above the total there is a box that states "Enter Promo Code" paste your code in the box.
- Click the "Apply" button and your order total should change to reflect your savings.

How we test coupon codes
All the coupon codes we list on our pages have been tested by our deals & offers teams to ensure they work as intended before being uploaded. You’ll find a wide range of coupons on Tom’s Guide, including free shipping offers, student discounts, and savings on various kinds of products.
To ensure that all listed codes are available to use, we don’t include any one-time use or user-specific coupons. We also provide as much information as we can to keep things as clear as possible - any expiry dates or terms & conditions will be listed alongside the code. What to do if a coupon code doesn’t work
We take care to only list tried & tested coupons on our pages, so all codes should be active and confer the listed discount or deal. However, although we keep up to date with expiry dates and any terms & conditions, sometimes retailers change these before we can update our pages.
