Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond are once again back to host proceedings — with plenty of encouragement, giggles and baking-based double entendres — as the 12 contestants try to join the ranks of Nadiya Hussain, Edd Kimber, John Whaite and last year's Georgie Grasso as series champion.

To do so, they'll have to please the professional palates of regular judges Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith over the course of three weekly challenges. Episodes will inevitably be dedicated to bread, biscuits and pastries over the 10-episode contest.

Cake Week, as ever, kicks things off at Welford Park, with the new batch of bakers being asked to prepare (according to the Channel 4 website) 'fiddly fondant fancies and a Signature Swiss roll'.
