The last we heard about “From” season 4 was that filming had finally kicked off at the end of June. Back in November 2024, MGM renewed the show for a fourth season, and a few months later, the producers mentioned a likely early 2026 release window.

Since production updates are usually few and far between, most of us probably expected things to stay quiet until the cameras stopped rolling. But there’s now a fresh development worth getting excited about: a brand-new casting announcement.

This new addition is Julia Doyle, joining as a series regular in the role of Sophia. According to Deadline, Sophia is “a sheltered and vulnerable pastor’s daughter.” That’s all the information available on the casting and we likely won't know anything else about her character until the first trailer.

But right now, we definitely know that production is underway in Nova Scotia ahead of a likely 2026 premiere. And it's set to continue the story of Boyd (Harold Perrineau) and the other residents trapped in the mysterious town, as they uncover more about the dark forces controlling their fate.

What this new casting could mean

As mentioned before, we don’t know much about Doyle’s character, Sophia, other than that she’s “sheltered and vulnerable” and a “pastor’s daughter.” Her sheltered upbringing could make her especially susceptible to the town’s supernatural forces, potentially serving as a catalyst for storylines involving possession or corruption.

What’s even more intriguing is that she’s listed as a “series regular,” suggesting a major role in season 4. Since we haven’t seen her in previous seasons, it’s possible she could appear in flashbacks as a character from the past or perhaps she’s one of the unfortunate newcomers who stumble into the town with her father.

Of course, there could be several potential storylines for her character, but the addition of new characters in season 4 means the town’s dynamics are bound to shift, leading to even more revelations.

“From” season 3 opened even more mysteries, with the finale ending on a shocking cliffhanger. Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno) and Jade (David Alpay) discovered their true identities as reincarnations of Miranda and Christopher, respectively. The Man in Yellow, a formidable figure, emerged as a central antagonist, having orchestrated the deaths of key characters, including Jim (Eion Bailey).

Additionally, the nature of the town's monsters was further explored, revealing that their deaths lead to a grotesque rebirth process involving accelerated pregnancies in humans, as exemplified by Fatima's (Pegah Ghafoori) harrowing experience. Julie Matthews (Hannah Cheramy), the Matthews family's teenage daughter, was revealed to possess the ability to time travel.

So it’s safe to say we could have another mystery on our hands with this new character, Sophia. We’ll just have to wait and see what season 4 has in store when the first trailer drops.

While you wait for season 4, check out other must-watch shows similar to “From.” You can also binge the first three seasons on MGM Plus to brush up on the story. In fact, I recently rewatched “From,” and honestly, it’s even more gripping the second time around.
