‘Robin Hood’ (Nov. 2, MGM Plus)

The outlaw tale you think you know gets a moody, romantic spin. Jack Patten steps into the bow as Rob, a Saxon forester’s son turned rebel leader, while Lauren McQueen’s Marian infiltrates royal circles with just as much firepower. Together, they wage war on corruption and class, balancing sword fights with stolen glances.

Sean Bean plays the ruthless, tax-hungry Sheriff of Nottingham, and Connie Nielsen reigns as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine. It’s history, heartbreak and heroism for a new generation. - Kelly Woo

Rachel Sennott brings her messy, hyper-online charm to HBO in a comedy that follows the kind of people you’d mute on Instagram but can’t look away from in real life. Imagine if “Girls” and “Entourage” had a group chat, lit by ring lights and bad decisions.

Sennott plays Maia, a wannabe talent manager desperate to stay relevant alongside her equally unhinged crew: Odessa A’zion’s mercurial It-girl Tallulah and Jordan Firstman’s jaded stylist Charlie. - KW

“Death by Lightning” is a new historical drama miniseries from “Game of Thrones” creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and they’ve assembled an elite cast for this four-part show. Telling the story of the assassination of U.S. President James A. Garfield, it stars Michael Shannon as the slain president and Matthew Macfadyen as his assassin, the unhinged Charles J. Guiteau.

Those two actors are incredible, and the trailer looks electric. I’m looking forward to binge-watching it. But I’m mostly looking forward to Nick Offerman rocking U.S. Vice President (and later President) Chester A. Arthur’s iconic beard. — Malcolm McMillan

‘Pluribus’ (Nov. 7, Apple TV)

If you’re not quite sure what ‘Pluribus’ is about, I don’t blame you. The trailers for this show have ranged from mysterious to downright confusing. We’ve seen people licking donuts, people licking cans … there’s been a surprising amount of licking if we’re being honest.

But from what I’ve gathered, here’s the rundown on this new sci-fi drama from “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan. “Pluribus” stars Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka. Carol is a historical romance author, and seemingly the only person immune to a virus that has transformed everyone in the world into a content, optimistic person. Is this a hive mind situation? Is it aliens? It’s unclear for now. But what is clear is that I can’t wait to watch this show. — MM

‘Frankenstein’ (Nov. 7, Netflix)

This is probably my most anticipated movie of the month, and I’m bummed I missed it in theaters. Director Guillermo del Toro excels at bring dark, twisted, gothic fantasies to the big screen, and I bet that “Frankenstein” looked incredible in large formats.

But at least I’ll finally get to see it now that it’s coming to Netflix. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, this adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic stars Oscar Isaac (love him) as the mad scientist Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi (also love him) as The Creature he creates from various corpses. Halloween may be in the past, but you can still get spooky by streaming “Frankenstein” this month. — MM

‘Bat-Fam’ (Nov. 10, Prime Video)

A follow-up TV series to 2023’s family-focused feature “Merry Little Batman,” “Bat-Fam” is a superhero show with the little ones in mind. Unlike Prime Video’s other Dark Knight animated original, “Batman: Caped Crusader,” this one is a more playful take on the World’s Greatest Detective and his allies. It looks to offer a vibrant cartoon style and plenty of slapstick gags.

“Bat-Fam” chronicles the latest crime-fighting adventures of Batman (voiced by Luke Wilson), Alfred Pennyworth (James Cromwell), and Damian Wayne, aka Little Batman (Yonas Kibreab), as they get to grips with a trio of new housemates at Wayne Manor. Oh, and they’ll also have to square off against classic foes, including The Joker and Clayface. - Rory Mellon

I was so excited for this show last year, and it ended up being one of my biggest disappointments of the year. But I might have been in the minority with that opinion, because season 1 of “Palm Royale” secured multiple Emmy nominations and a season 2 renewal.

In season 1, Maxine Dellacorte (Kristen Wiig) tried to shake her outsider status and break into 1969 Palm Beach high society. She finally gets membership at the exclusive Palm Royale country club, but the first season ends on a tragic cliffhanger. In season 2, she’s now a social outcast and will need to prove she still belongs, even if it requires committing a felony or two. Will I hate watch this? Almost certainly. — MM

‘Playdate’ (Nov. 12, Prime Video)

Streaming services love an action comedy movie with some recognizable faces. This month, we get Prime Video’s attempt at the genre: “Playdate,” starring comedy icon Kevin James and the face of the Prime Video hit “Reacher,” Alan Ritchson.

In “Playdate,” James plays Brian, a newly unemployed dad trying to connect with his new stepson, Lucas (Benjamin Pajak). When they go to the park to try and throw the football around, they meet C.J. (Banks Pierce) and C.J.’s dad, Jeff (Ritchson). Except Jeff isn’t really C.J.’s dad. Instead, his job is to prevent C.J. from being taken by some seriously evil people, and that ropes Brian and Lucas into a playdate that involves more than one high-speed chase. — MM

Netflix’s new thriller series “The Beast in Me” reunites Claire Danes with showrunner Howard Gordon. The pair previously worked together on “Homeland,” and while that Showtime series went off the rails in its later seasons, the early days were riveting appointment TV at its very best. Let’s hope “The Beast in Me” can recapture that compelling spark.

Danes plays Aggie Wiggs, a reclusive author still reeling from the tragic death of her young son. Struggling with writer’s block, she becomes dangerously obsessed with her new next-door neighbor, Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys), a restate estate mogul who was the chief suspect in his wife’s mysterious disappearance. As Aggie investigates, she becomes drawn into a dangerous cat-and-mouse game that might have deadly consequences. - RM

‘Malice’ looks like a fun psychological thriller that will have you wishing you could binge-watch it. It stars Jack Whitehall as Adam, a male nanny joining the wealthy Tanner family on their vacation to look after the kids. The kids end up loving him, and based on the trailer, so do the ladies, and after the vacation, family patriach Jamie (David Duchovny) asks him to stay on with the family.

That might prove to be a mistake, because once he’s embedded in the Tanner family, Adam starts tearing it apart from the inside. Will he manage to bring Jamie down? Or will Jamie figure out what’s going on before it’s too late? You’ll have to watch “Malice” to find out. — MM

Taking clear cues from “Planes, Trains and Automobiles,” “A Very Jonas Christmas Movie” sees the three brothers racing home for the holidays. After performing a sold-out show in London, the race is on to get back to New York to spend Christmas with their loved ones. When I saw “Landman” at a special screening last year, I was sure it’d be a hit. I didn’t realize that it’d be one of the biggest hits of the year. Starring Billy Bob Thornton as Texas landman Tommy Norris, this show took the U.S. by storm and people have been eagerly waiting for season 2.

Well, wait no longer. This month, we finally get the “Landman” season 2 premiere, which looks set to pick up soon after the season 1 finale. Tommy is still trying to run and maybe even sell his late friend Monty Miller's (Jon Hamm) oil company, which is now owned by Monty's widow Cami (Demi Moore). But he also has to contend with his son Cooper’s (Jacob Lofland) burgeoning career as an oilman and the return of his father, played by the legendary Sam Elliot. Trust me, you won’t want to miss this. — MM

If you loved “The Good Place,” then you need to be watching “A Man on the Inside.” This sitcom reunites "The Good Place" creator Michael Schur and "The Good Place" star Ted Danson in a mystery comedy set in a retirement home. It stars Danson as Charles Nieuwendyk, a retired widower who decides to spice up his life by becoming a private investigator's (Lilah Richcreek Estrada) assistant.

In season 1, Charles is sent undercover to find a missing ruby necklace at the Pacific View Retirement Community in San Francisco. Now, he’s back to solve another mystery, and this time there’s a new addition to the cast. Danson's real-life wife, Mary Steenburgen, is joining the show as Mona Margadoff, a former musician and a key person of interest in Charles' latest case. — MM

I’ve already seen “Train Dreams” at a press screening, and I can see why this movie has Academy Award aspirations. It’s beautifully shot, and features some powerful, emotional moments that are sure to hit home with viewers.

A historical drama, “Train Dreams” stars Joel Edgerton as Robert Grainier, a woodsman from the American West. In almost “Forrest Gump” fashion, this movie follows Robert (complete with narration) as he builds a family, experiences love and loss and faces the rapidly changing world of the early 20th century. It’s not a flawless movie, but it’s definitely worth watching, and you should absolutely add it to your watchlist this month. — MM

We’re finally here. "Stranger Things" is finally coming to an end, now that its high schoolers no longer look like kids and some are even starting families. But despite some of the youthfulness having left the show behind, there’s no doubt that the final chapters of Netflix’s horror series will be a bittersweet goodbye.

In season 5, we’re picking up the story four years after the events of season 1, and the "Stranger Things" gang is headed into the Upside Down one last time to defeat the evil entity known as Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). This final season is split over three volumes, with the first arriving this month and consisting of four episodes. By the time you’re done watching them, it’ll probably be time for Thanksgiving dinner with your family. — MM
