Prime Video top 10 movies — here’s the 3 I’m adding to my watchlist this weekend (Nov. 22-23)
Planning a Prime Video movie marathon this weekend, but not sure where to start? Whenever I don't have a clue about what to watch, I make a beeline for the streaming service’s weekly top 10 list for a snapshot of what's got audiences buzzing at the moment.
Granted, you can't assume every movie in the Prime Video top 10 is a must-watch. Plenty of overhyped duds manage to make their way among the gems every week. That's why I'm here every weekend combing through the rankings to highlight the best of the best, which you can check out below. For more recommendations, check out our list of the top 10 movies and shows to watch this weekend on Netflix, Apple TV, and more.
Note: This article is based on Prime Video's top 10 movies list in the U.S. as of 12:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, November 23.
Best movies in the Prime Video top 10
'Red One' (2024)
As much as I love Jim Carry's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," of all the Christmas movies in the Prime Video top 10 list right now, "Red One" is my ultimate guilty pleasure pick for the holidays. It's ridiculous, over-the-top, and exactly the kind of silly star-studded spectacle my mom would have cackled over, so now I watch it every year on her behalf.
J.K. Simmons kills it as a world-weary St. Nick with a flashy '70s style. His plans to retire after one last Christmas run go out the window when a black ops cohort kidnaps him before the big day. To save Christmas, the North Pole’s Head of Security (Dwayne Johnson) reluctantly partners with hacker Jack O’Malley (Chris Evans), a smart-ass and perpetual naughty-lister to boot, on a high-stakes rescue mission. The star-studded cast also includes Lucy Liu, Bonnie Hunt, Kiernan Shipka, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, and Nick Kroll.

'Wicked' (2024)
With "Wicked: For Good" hitting theaters this weekend, I'm not surprised to see the first "Wicked" return to Prime Video's top charts. Hell, just seeing it in the Prime Video top 10 again has me itching to take another trip to Oz for the umpteenth time and get lost in that Hollywood movie musical magic.

“Wicked” follows the previously untold origin story of the Witches of Oz, chronicling the early years of the Wicked Witch of the West (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda the Good (Ariana Grande), who, after a rocky introduction, became close friends at Shiz before fate tore them apart. The show-stealing, gravity-defying finale still makes me break out into goosebumps no matter how many times I watch it.

‘Playdate’ (2025)
Prime Video has been on a hot streak with buddy-centric action comedies this year, from “Heads of State” to “Code 3” to “The Pickup.” Its latest entry, “Playdate,” pits Kevin James and Alan Ritchson as two stay-at-home dads who get caught up in the crossfire of a conspiracy that sends both them and their sons on the run.
Brian (James) is a newly minted stepdad doing his best to push through the awkwardness of bonding with his stepson Lucas (Benjamin Pajak). Hoping to break the ice, he arranges a playdate with fellow stay-at-home dad Jeff (Alan Ritchson) and his son CJ (Banks Pierce). But their meetup goes sideways fast when a team of mercenaries crashes the party, blowing the lid off Jeff's cover. Brian's forced to channel his inner action hero if he wants to get himself and Lucas out alive.
