The weekends were made for streaming great movies, and if you’re looking for picks worth spending your precious watchtime on, Prime Video’s sizeable library offers plenty of choice.

However, “decision paralysis” is a real issue, and I’ve on occasion found myself wasting an awful lot of time scrolling through streaming service catalogs, and that’s time that could be better spent watching movies. So, help you avoid falling into that same trap, I’ve done the legwork for you and found three recent arrivals on Prime Video that I believe you should stream now.

These range from a Caribbean-set revenge thriller to a sprawling crime drama, and also an action-comedy containing one of Nicolas Cage’s most ludicrous, but genius, roles to date. These are the three new to Prime Video movies you should watch this weekend.

‘The Bluff’ (2026)

Prime Video’s swashbuckling action-thriller “The Bluff” claimed the No. 1 spot in the platform’s top 10 most-watched list within 24 hours of its release on Feb. 25, and it’s staying there even as the first week of March draws to a close. I’m not mad about this either. It’s a cut above the majority of recent Prime Video original movies, and a solid reminder that we really need more pirate movies in general. It’s full of brutal action and packs a great villain and hero.

Ercell Booden (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) lives a peaceful life in the Cayman Islands with her son and sister-in-law. Awaiting the return of her sailor husband (Ismael Cruz Córdova), Ercell learns you can never outrun the past when pirates wash up in paradise, looking for revenge and gold. It’s revealed that Ercell used to be a feared seven-seas criminal known as Bloody Mary, and a former partner in crime, Captain Connor (Karl Urban), has an old score to settle.

‘The Place Beyond the Pines’ (2012)

Watch On

“The Place Beyond the Pines” thoroughly earns its “epic crime drama” label. That’s not because it's stuffed with large-scale set pieces, but rather because of its multi-generational narrative, which shifts character perspective and explores a period of two decades. It’s also got quite a ludicrously stacked cast list, including Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, Ray Liotta, Ben Mendelsohn, Rose Byrne, Mahershala Ali, and also a young Dane DeHaan.

It’s a little hard to give you the full scope of “The Place Beyond the Pines” story without dipping into spoiler territory, but this tale begins with a carnival stuntdriver (Gosling) learning that his former lover (Mendes) had given birth to his son a year prior. Determined to provide for his young family, he turns to crime, specifically robbing banks. This puts him on a collision course with a rookie cop (Cooper), and that’s just act one of this engaging crime drama.

‘The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent’ (2022)

Watch On

Nicolas Cage is notorious for his willingness to take on absurd projects, and “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” might just be one of his most off-the-wall roles yet. In this action-comedy, Cage plays a heightened version of himself. This could have been an awkward or self-indulgent farce, but somehow it all comes together near perfectly to deliver a movie that is wonderfully self-aware, very funny and crammed with clever subversions.

Actor Nick Cage (as noted, played by Cage) is at a crossroads in his career, struggling for work and tormented by visions of his younger, more successful self. He takes a $1 million offer to appear as the guest of honor at the birthday party of superfan Javi Gutierrez (Pedro Pascal). Shortly afterwards, Cage finds himself in a madcap adventure when the CIA enlists him to spy on Gutierrez, who they suspect has kidnapped an anti-crime politician's daughter.
