Editor's choice: Today's 5 best mattress sales
Learn how we pick our best mattress sales ▼
Here at Tom's Guide, we test mattresses for hundreds of hours, using a mixture of qualitative and quantitative data to build an unbiased view of each model. We also track mattress sales throughout the year, so we know which deals are good and which ones aren't worth your time.
The picks in our Editor's Choice category represent the deals we know are good value on mattresses we recommend.
1. Saatva Classic Mattress: twin was $1,399 now $999 at Saatva
As well as taking the top spot in our best hybrid mattress guide, our Saatva Classic Mattress review team gave this luxury mattress full marks across the testing criteria. It's available in three firmness levels (soft, medium-firm, firm) and two heights (11.5 inches or 14.5 inches), and this customization gives it a wide appeal — it suits almost every sleep style. Our favorite Saatva mattress sale is back this Memorial Day, with $400 off all mattresses over $1,000. A queen Saatva Classic is now only $1,699 (was $2,099) and you get market-leading extras, with a 365-night trial, forever warranty and free white glove delivery. You won't find a better saving on a queen Saatva Classic mattress than this, so we recommend shopping now.
2. Helix Midnight Luxe: twin was $1,436 now $1,048.28 at Helix
Topping our best mattress for side sleepers guide, the Helix Midnight Luxe mattress offers super-plush cushioned support. The May Helix mattress sale has kicked off with Memorial Day early access discounts, including 27% off the Midnight Luxe with code TOMS27, plus a free mattress protector and sheet set. This is a step up from the evergreen Helix deal, which offers 20% off and no free gifts. A queen is currently $1,732,54 (was $2,373.33) and comes with a 100-night trial and a lifetime warranty. That matches the lowest price we've seen this year (for Presidents' Day) and we think it's the best price you'll get — shop now.
3. The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress: twin $399 at DreamCloud
The latest DreamCloud mattress sales brings a queen DreamCloud Hybrid to $665, which is excellent value for money on the best mattress in a box we've tested. We praised the superb support and hotel-quality feel in our DreamCloud Hybrid mattress review and the cherry on top is top notch benefits, with a 365-night trial and lifetime warranty. Last month's flash sale did see a queen reduced to $599 but the design has undergone a re-tweak since then so we don't expect another price drop any time soon.
4. Sleep Number i8 Smart Bed: twin was $3,399 now $2,379.30 at Sleep Number
Sleep Number is quick out the blocks with its Memorial Day mattress sale, offering a huge discount on the i8 Bed, an innovative smart mattress. Using air pockets linked to sleep trackers to create adjustable firmness that responds to your movement even as you sleep, the i8 Smart Bed is for those who want to fine tune their comfort. An up to 30% off sale reduces a queen to $2,799.30 (was $3,999) which is a total discount of $1,199.70. Sleep Number tends to switch its savings around, so we’re not sure this will last until Memorial Day — we recommend shopping now. A 100-night trial and 15-year warranty are included.
User score: ★★★★★ (66,000+ reviews)
5. Nectar Classic Memory Foam mattress: twin $349 at Nectar
The Nectar Classic is a value for money mattress that delivers a balance of support and contouring to suit most sleep styles — we found it most for back sleeping during our Nectar Classic Memory Foam mattress review, but there's something for almost everyone here. Including exceptional benefits, with a 365-night trial and forever warranty. The Nectar mattress sale is evergreen and a queen has been $649 for a while now, which is an impressive price for a high quality mattress. And we think you're unlikely to miss out on a discount if you shop now rather than waiting for Memorial Day — Nectar rarely increases the discount around major sales days.
Memory Foam mattress deals
Learn more about memory foam mattresses ▼
Memory foam mattresses are made of multiple layers of dense cushioning. We often recommend them for aching joints, as the foams 'hug' the body to relieve pressure where you press into the mattress.
All-foam mattresses are also good for bed sharers, eating up movement so your partner's restless night doesn't disturb you. But despite a reputation for softness, memory foam mattresses encompass a range of feels — like the ultra-firm all-foam Plank mattress.
In fact, our expert-tested best memory foam mattresses guide has an all-foam mattress for every sleep style.
1. Siena Mattress: twin $179 at Siena
The Siena Mattress is a budget-friendly memory foam mattress with a firm feel that suits back and stomach sleepers. Our Siena Memory Foam mattress review panel praised the support, while the neutral temperature was another plus (cheap all-foam beds can often sleep hot.) The evergreen Siena mattress sale reduces a queen to $359 — an excellent price for a mattress of this quality and you get a 180-night trial and 10-year warranty included. Keep an eye on the Siena Amazon store as well, we've spotted some record low prices in recent weeks.
2. Nectar Premier Mattress: twin $549 at Nectar
Described as "sumptuous" by our Nectar Premier Memory Foam Mattress review team, this all-foam bed creates deep pressure relief for side sleepers. At $949 for a queen, the Nectar Premier delivers indulgent comfort at a price that won't break the bank. We doubt this deal will get any better for Memorial Day, so you can shop now without missing out on a saving.
3. Puffy Mattress: twin was $1,849 now $499 at Puffy
The five-layer, memory foam Puffy Mattress is made to support back, stomach, side and combination sleepers. It has a cooling cover to wick away heat, which we found effective (albeit slippery) in our Puffy Cloud mattress review. After discount, the twin is on sale for $499 (was $1,849), and the queen costs $949 (was $2,299).
4. Plank Firm Mattress: twin was $849 now $561.75 at Plank Mattress
If you want a mattress that really delivers on firmness, look no further than the Plank. This flippable design is hard on both sides, with the Extra Firm surface designated the firmest we've tested in our Plank Firm Mattress review. It's not a feel that will suit everyone but this specialist design certainly fills a niche — you'll struggle to find anything else like it, which we think justifies the price tag. A queen is $999 in the 25% off sale (was $1,332) and comes with a 120-night trial and lifetime warranty. But we recommend playing the waiting game here; Plank has a tendency to offer 30% off around major sales days.
5. Purple Mattress: twin was $999 now $799 at Purple
An all-foam bed like no other, the Purple Mattress uses a layer of GelFlex Grid to create responsive comfort that adapts to your every movement. We found it took a moment to get used to in our Purple Mattress review, but after adjusting to the unusual feel, it earned high marks across the testing panel. Purple mattress sales are unpredictable so we're a little surprised to see the Memorial Day deals already. Surprised, but pleased, as $200 off all sizes reduces a queen to $1,299 (was $1,499.) We've seen bigger discounts in the past but as mentioned, Purple sales are unreliable. You might want to grab this one before it goes.
Hybrid mattress deals
Learn more about hybrid mattresses ▼
Hybrid mattresses combine body-hugging foams with supportive innerspring layers to bring you the best of both worlds. No mattress is one-size-fits-all but if you're not sure where to start, a medium-firm hybrid mattress is typically a crowd-pleaser.
Spring-based hybrid mattresses have their pros and cons — the bouncier feel can disrupt couples but the open design aids air flow — but our favorite hybrid mattresses offer exceptional support across the board.
1. Helix Midnight Mattress: twin was $999 now $729.03 at Helix
Our Helix Midnight Mattress review team found this softer design perfectly tailored for side sleeping. It lacks the luxurious finish of the Midnight Luxe but on the other hand, it's significantly cheaper — in the Memorial Day early access sale a queen is $972.36 (was $1,332.) We don't think you'll get a better price than this which makes now the right time to shop.
2. Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid: twin $549 at Awara
The Awara is regularly on sale and this month there's up to 50%. In our Awara Natural Hybrid Mattress review, we called the Editor's Choice bed an affordable organic mattress with a luxurious feel – the Natural Luxury is a slightly different design, but we expect it to provide the same pressure relief and spinal alignment. With the discount a queen is $849, which is an impressive price tag for a natural latex mattress. It's unlikely to get any cheaper for Memorial Day, so you can shop now with confidence.
3. Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe: twin was $999 now $749.25 at Brooklyn Bedding
In our Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress review, we found upgrading this supportive mattress with the Cloud pillow-top enhances both cooling and comfort. Without the pillow-top, a queen is $1,398.75 (was $1,865) in the evergreen sale but it's $1,698.75 for a queen with the addition. That's a definite price jump but if you sleep hot, we think it's worth it. However, you might want to wait and see what Memorial Day brings, as we expect Brooklyn Bedding to increase the saving.
4. Emma Hybrid Cooling Comfort Mattress: twin was $1,099 now $439 at Emma
We're expecting to see a full refresh of the Emma mattress line-up soon, with this 60% off sale clearing out the old stock. So act now if you have your eye on the Hybrid Cooling Comfort, a 13-inch tall mattress that uses ergonomic springs to create zoned support. A queen is only $615 (was $1,539) in the sale which is a competitive price. Sizes are selling out so don't linger to buy.
User score: ★★★★★ (4,100+ reviews)
5. The WinkBed Mattress: was $1,149 now $849 at WinkBeds
In our WinkBed mattress review we said it's a well-made, competitively priced luxury hybrid offering a nice balance of sturdy, zoned support and comfortable cushioning. And it comes in a range of firmness options, including a Plus for larger sleepers. WinkBed's $300 off sale is evergreen, reducing a queen to $1,499 (was $1,799.) We didn't spot any deals changes during Black Friday, Cyber Monday or Presidents' Day. We'd be very surprised to see that pattern change for Memorial Day 2025.
Latex mattress deals
Learn more about latex mattresses ▼
Latex mattresses are becoming increasingly popular, due to their eco-friendly credentials. Latex foams have bouncy, buoyant pressure relief and natural breathability, and although the best organic mattresses can be premium picks, they're also known for their durability.
1. Avocado Eco Organic Mattress: twin was $777 now $699 at Avocado
Avocado is a leader in the green-mattress charge and the Eco Organic is one of the best value latex mattresses we've seen. The firmer feel will best suit stomach and back sleepers, and despite the lower price, every part of the mattress has received OEKO-TEX 100 Standard certification. While there have been better Avocado mattress sales, the deals are rarely any bigger on the brand's most affordable bed. A queen is now $1,169 (was $1,299) and comes with a 100-night trial and 10-year warranty.
User score: ★★★★½ (700+ reviews)
2. Birch Natural Mattress: twin was $1,373.75 now $1,030 at Birch
The medium-firm feel of the Birch suits most sleep styles, as we discovered in our Birch Natural Mattress review. This is a top pick if you like to change position in the night, especially as the bouncy feel is responsive and easy to move around. We did notice some motion transfer, however, which might cause disrupted nights if you share with a restless partner. The early Memorial Day sale reduces a queen from $1,873.33 to $1,405 and you get two free pillows with your purchase.
3. Essentia Stratami Organic Mattress: twin was $3,206 now $2,564.80 at Essentia
The all-foam Essentia Stratami Mattress uses latex foams to create full-body support, while the dome shaped interior enhances airflow — we awarded temperature regulation full marks in our Essentia Stratami Organic Mattress review. Essentia is celebrating organic sleep with a 20% off sale, reducing a queen to $3,388 (was $4,235) and it comes with a 120-night trial and 20-year warranty. However, there is a returns charge and it's 9% of the initial mattress cost, so make sure this is the bed for you before buying.
Kids mattress deals
1. Brentwood Juniper Kids Mattress: was $459 now $413 at Brentwood
All sizes of the Juniper Kids Mattress are 10% off at Brentwood. The mattresses are all made with cooling gel memory foam, which sleeps cooler than traditional memory foam. The mattresses are latex-free and 100% hypoallergenic. After discount, the twin costs $413 (was $459), whereas the full costs $521 (was $579).
2. Helix Kids Mattress: was $745 now $559 at Helix
2 free pillows! The Helix Kids mattress is on sale and even better, you'll get two free Dream Pillows with your purchase. The Helix Kids is naturally hypoallergenic and made with non-toxic materials. The firm side is suggested for little ones aged three to seven, while the softer side is recommended for kids aged eight to 12.
3. Nolah Nurture 10: was $919 now $639 at Nolah
The Nurture is a 10-inch organic mattress designed for kids. It features natural Talalay latex and comes wrapped in a GOTS-certified organic cotton cover. The mattress can also be flipped to offer a soft or firmer night's sleep. Use coupon TOMS50OFF to take an extra $50 off mattress and weighted blanket sale prices. After discount, the twin costs $547 (was $919), whereas the full costs $918 (was $1,224). During checkout, you'll need to remove the discount that's automatically added and instead add TOMS50OFF as your discount.
Bases and frames deals
1. Nectar Foundation: was $356 now $169 at Nectar
As part of its sitewide sale, Nectar is also taking up to 50% off bases and foundations. The Nectar Foundation is an inexpensive way to support your mattress. It's easy to set up, clean, and durable. After discount, the twin is $169 (was $356) and the queen is $359 (was $458)
2. DreamCloud Foundation: was $356 now $169 at DreamCloud
As part of its sitewide sale, DreamCloud is also taking up to 50% off sitewide. The DreamCloud Foundation is an inexpensive way to support your mattress. It's easy to set up, clean, and durable. After discount, the twin is $169 (was $356) and the queen is $359 (was $458).
3. Casper Foundation: was $299 now $239.20 at Casper
The Casper Foundation can be assembled in minutes without any tools. Made of solid wood, it supports any Casper mattress. Savings are semi-frequent and you can often find 10% off the Casper Foundation.
4. Cocoon by Sealy Foundation: was $299 now $249 at Cocoon by Sealy
Not all good bed frames cost a bundle. The Cocoon by Sealy Foundation is a basic, but reliable bed foundation available in all sizes. It's easy to assemble, sturdy, and low to the ground for a modern look. After discount, the twin costs $249 (was $299), whereas the queen costs $299 (was $349).
5. Brooklyn Bedding Ascension Luxe Adjustable Base: was $699 now $524.25 at Brooklyn Bedding
Brooklyn Bedding is slashing 25% off all of its bases reducing a queen to just $674.25 (was $899). We do sometimes see up to 30% off at Brooklyn Bedding, however, so keep an eye out for this improved deal.
Mattress sales FAQs
Mattress deals online — Where to find them
Holidays are — not surprisingly — the best time of year for mattress sales. November, in particular, is a great month for mattress deals with many manufacturers offering their lowest prices of the year. However, if you need a cheap mattress deal now — there are many mattress deals available that you can take advantage of. The best places to look are generally the mattress manufacturers. Nectar, Saatva, Purple, and Amerisleep, for instance, usually have various mattress deals you can take advantage of on any given day of the week.
Finding the best mattress coupons
Like many retailers, mattress manufacturers occasionally offer discounts via coupon codes. Some brands are upfront about their promo codes and list them on their respective websites. Others have the tendency to hide them. Make sure to check out our guide to the best coupons via our guides: Nectar promo codes, Tempur Pedic promo codes, Purple promo codes, Casper promo codes, DreamCloud coupons, and Awara promo codes.
Mattress deals — tips to remember
- Shop the peak sales: Labor Day, Black Friday/Cyber Monday, Memorial Day, and July 4th are generally the best time of the year for mattress deals. Black Friday used to stand out as the top mattress sale day by a long shot but lately Memorial Day has been catching up (and even Presidents' Day and Labor Day sales have been promising.)
- Look out for evergreen sales: Some of our favorite sleep brands — including Nectar and DreamCloud — run sales throughout the year and you rarely risk missing a better price by shopping these deals. In this guide, we've highlighted which sales are evergreen and which are new, wherever possible.
- Know your return policy: Buying a new mattress can be tricky, as everyone's sleep needs are unique. Most online mattress brands offer a sleep trial — time to test the bed at home — with returns for free (or a minimal fee) within this period. Some brands, particularly budget beds and third-party retailers, only offer returns if the mattress is in the original condition. In other words, still rolled up in its box.
- Don't skip the sleep trial: Okay, this is practically the same point as above but the sleep trial is our number one piece of advice when buying a mattress online. A standard trial lasts 100 nights but some brands offer up to a full year — well over the estimated 30 nights it takes to adjust to a bed. With a sleep trial, you can test the bed where it mattress most: in your own bedroom.
- Save with Medicare: If you're in the US and buying a mattress to help with a medical condition such as chronic back pain, you may be eligible for Medicare support. For all the facts you need to know, see our article on what types of mattresses are covered by Medicare.
