Until a few months ago, I had an aging iPhone 13. It worked, for the most part, except I could barely make it nine hours between charges. So when I was out of the house, I really needed a way to quickly top up the battery.
This is how I came to invest in my favorite charging gadget, the Anker MagGo Power Bank 10K, which is currently 20% off right now at Amazon as part of the retailer's Limited Time offers.
I don't often get excited by new tech (because I think most devices are unnecessary gimmicks) but when I find something that genuinely makes my life easier, I become really enthusiastic, which people find a bit disconcerting when I'm only talking about a wireless charger to drop into your bag.
The Anker MagGo Power Bank 10K is a portable power bank that supports MagSafe (iPhone) and Qi2 wireless charging. But there's also a USB-C port on the side for when you need to top-up other devices quickly. It's a 10,000 mAh battery, which should be enough to fully recharge your phone from empty, with more to spare.
There's a kickstand on the back so you can keep your device upright while it charges (instead of flat on the table) and a digital display on the side. If you press the button when nothing is charging, it'll tell you how much battery is left.
While topping up a device, a blue up arrow lights up and it'll show you how much power the charger still has. Plug in a USB-C cable to charge the battery, and it displays how long until it's ready to go.
In my eyes, this is the perfect gadget; it does exactly what it says, has no unnecessary features, and is incredibly easy to use. I've been trying out chargers for almost a decade now, and it's rare that you find one that's powerful enough to top up your phone, is easy to carry around and has some small touches to improve the experience.
There are just two small downsides — the kickstand is a little fragile, so you need to be sure you fold it away before you put the MagGo in your bag, otherwise it could snap off.
And it is on the bulky side. For me, that's a compromise worth the convenience, especially at this price, but Anker seems to have realized this, which is why it also made the Anker MagGo Power Bank 10K Ultra Slim, which is also 20% off at Amazon right now.
But before you rush to buy the smaller version there are two big differences; there's no kickstand and it also only supports MagSafe standards, and can only charge iPhones and other compatible Apple devices. So you're better off with my model if you have an Android phone.
