Best Buy is Giving Away Free Nexus S Units All Day
If ever there was a time to upgrade to the Nexus S, this is it.
If you've been thinking about forking over the cash for a Nexus S but aren't sure if you can really afford to drop a hundred dollars on the device, now's your chance. For one day only, Best Buy locations are giving away free Nexus S phones to those willing to sign a two year contract. The offer started at midnight, August 3, and goes through to midnight tonight. Sure, it's not as sweet a deal as a free off-contract Nexus S, but it's nothing to turn your nose up at, either.
Best Buy said in a release that all three versions of the phone are included in the deal (AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile) and that customers can avail of the offer as an upgrade or as a new phone. If you can't get to a Best Buy store in time, you can always hit up bestbuy.com/mobile.
The Nexus S is a Samsung-built Google phone with a 4-inch super AMOLED display, a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, 512MB of RAM, dual cameras (5-megapixel in the back and a smaller VGA camera up front), WiFi, microUSB, NFC, and 16GB of internal storage.

Still have to get a 2 year contract... don't know what dictionary you use but that don't sound like free to me!
Free* Nexus S
- for those already paying 100$/month more then their service should be
The hand set is free; better than my plan with virgin mobile where i have to pay off the full price of my phone before I'm free from their supertab contract; which had "0"$ for the phone.
even if it was free with no 2 year contract, the catch would be you'll have to go inside a Best Buy!
I have a free 2011 Maxda 3 Speed I am giving away, to those who purchase this pencil for $100,000 USD.
they said free nexus s unit, not free t-mobile plan ... don't know what article you read but that sound like free to me!
talk about misleading. Come on guys this is the kind of trash titling i would expect from the macf*gs at engadget
hmmm... get one and root it? =)
What a bunch of retards. "It's not free, you need a contract wah wah wah"
Yea, they are going to give away a $600 phone for free because they like you. Yes, cell phone plans can be expensive, especially with internet packages. Do you remember when you had to pay a few hundred for the coolest phone PLUS a contract?
I don't think so....
Yep Contract = not free.. And you will need a data plan with it.. more$$$ Good job on the hype. You guys at Tom's might get this free cause of advertising but not us...
You're right... Free technically would mean no charge for the phone and no monthly fee. If you actually thought that when you saw the title, deal with it.
*sigh....
No one thought that but you would think the phone would be free. so deal with it. Pull your arm of of your arse!! joke..
Best Buy is Giving Away Free Nexus S Units All Day. Wow I don't see how I came to the conclusion they were going to be free..

You people are all idiots and make forums a terrible place that they are the phone is indeed FREE, no shit a contract isnt free u morons wtf kind of idiots are you people u dumb TROLLS
You are the moron I was just stating what the damn headline says what if I said free Ferrari to the first poster and then said you have to have it serviced at my shop for 200 grand. Get it!! the headline is misleading and by the way I don't want the damn phone. If the forums are so terrible go some where else and post your insults You are the dumb troll...
You are definitely the moron christop. You are obviously a troll. Look at all your posts.
eatme!!!
Agree with Christop you are the the troll moron!!!
Jane, thanks for the heads up, I just got the phone. I pity the fools that didn't understand the news piece.
Waiting for a free Galaxy S2.
Free phone...subject to local sales tax (tax calculated based on the MSRP of $599.99), plus $18 upgrade fee for existing customer, offer includes a mandatory data plan of $30/month, void where prohibited.
Did I miss anything?
I bet early termination of the contract will still be less than the cost of the phone.
The one good thing in Canada, we don't need to wait for this kind of deal, it's always going on. Sign a contract for 2-3 years with any company and you have a choice of smart phones to get for free. Got myself the Blackberry Curve with a great plan, only 35$ a month! Compared to a normal bill of 60, or even 70$ (my previous dumb phone plan).
Well, since I was upgrade eligible, I picked up one of these for $0, no sales tax, said "no thank you" to the accessories & protection plan (at $9.99 a month!!!), kept my $15/mo data plan, and left for a grand total of $0. Yes, I may have an extra $18 on my carrier bill... seems worth it compared to the $100-$200 cost of anything competitive like an Atrix or Infuse.
Working out nice for me so far, and I can give my old HTC Aria to the kids as a MP3/game device. Trolls, you can go back to your cave now.
Interesting post, thank you for putting it up! Looks like I may have missed the boat on this one, since i have an iPhone. Droids are pretty cool though.. Best Buy is a great company, but like many nationwide businesses it can have some weak spots. I was surfing the internet and I found this site where people can vent about poor customer service or products they received... it can get really funny. I would recommend you to check it out here.
