Flash Coming to iPhone Too... Somewhat

- By - Source : Tom's Guide US

Finally, for the iPhone.

Yesterday Apple consumers--namely those owning the iPhone and iPod Touch--felt somewhat left out of the Flash 10.1 party, as Adobe and its partners announced that Flash is coming to mobile devices... including the Blackberry phones. Unfortunately, it still doesn't look as if full-fledged Flash is coming to Apple devices, but Adobe has figured out a way to port some of the technology.

For developers in general, the company revealed that Adobe Flash Professional CS5 will allow them to create Flash-based games and apps specifically for Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch; they can also port current projects over to the Apple-based platforms as well. Adobe said that interested developers can go ahead and sign up for a public beta by sending an application here.

However, for PC-based developers, Adobe Flash Professional CS5 should serve as a holy grail for those not wanting to sink funds into a new Mac. The latest iPhone SDK, v3.1, isn't offered for PC developers, geared only for Apple-based machines. Adobe's latest Flash software should provide even more content for Apple's overcrowded Apps Store, previously limited only to Mac-based authors.

But in light of recent news, Adobe's mobile website currently blames Apple for blocking full Flash support on the iPhone and iPod Touch. "Apple restricts use of technologies required by products like Flash Player," the site reads. "Until Apple eliminates these restrictions, Adobe cannot provide Flash Player for the iPhone or iPod touch."

It will be only time that corrects this minor issue that Adobe is facing at the moment.

Some higher end government official needs to be burden enough in order to force Apple to open their platform to developers.

Apple will never let something like flash run on its device. I breaks Apples #1 rule: "If Apple can't control its content, then it's not content for Apple Product!"

They amended a "Bwaaahahahahahaaaaaaa" off the end of the rule in December 2008 when they realized some Java stuff still worked.

F*** YOU APPLE! We pay premium prices for their products and this is what we get.. left out! Apple never allow anything outside their "comfort zone" because they know that if they do, people will see that viruses and bugs also exist in their little world. I don't get why people still defend Apple and make fun of Microsoft... Apple is for people who knows nothing about computers and just want to look cool...

Flash on the iPhone would offer serious competition to App Store, imagine people playing flash games instead of buying all the 99c games from App Store. And not only games, all kinds of applications can be developed in flash that would circumvent Apple's App store.

The point is Apple want's you to buy apps through them so they can get their share, and not from anywhere else, Flash would make it possible to circumvent that.

Apple is so dumb. Flash is one of the greatest technologies on the internet and they don't have it, foolish.

God, its so obvious what Apple's doing. instead of going to newgrounds and playing the games for free, they will put them on the app store so that apple can make money. even if they are free, apple still make money from the dev enrollment.

screw apple.

Apple and Adobe are insanely successful because they give their customer what they want. Their customers want Flash on iPhone, so A&A will find a way. If you think otherwise, despite the news of the current second, you're deluding yourself.

Not completely true...
A Macintosh active DP to DVI adapter is cheaper than a Dell active DP to DVI adapter, however it doesn't look as cool (what serious desktop is white?).

Though I still don't have a phone... however I love Newgrounds, so... yeah... fix it.

If Flash is implemented into the Iphone, I only hope it works better than their MMS.

MMS works great on my Iphone?

I would love to have flash but to be honest i don't overly miss it.

The only good purpose is to watch movies on all the porn sites which i would prefer to do on my laptop or PC's 24" screen. Youtube app works fine and i can browse the net perfect. It's a phone, not a PC.

BUT... I would like to have flash.
