As well as reliable sports tracking and great battery life, the Coros Pace 3 also offers useful extras, such as breadcrumb navigation and training analysis. In our Coros Pace 3 review, tester Nick Harris-Fry gave it 4.5 stars, highly rating the small, lightweight design that feels comfortable 24/7. It's also brilliant value for its features, meaning you could save compared with Garmin alternatives and without upgrading to the 4.

There's a time and a place for an upgrade, but sometimes the differences aren't worth the money for some people, and you might be deciding whether or not that's the case for you.

The Pace 3, 4 and Pro models all offer similar sports tracking and training analysis features, but there are some key differences in design and navigation.

The three watches have lightweight, slim designs made from plastic with glass screens. The Coros Pace Pro is the largest watch with its 1.3in display compared to 1.2in on the Pace 3 and the Coros Pace 4. The Pace 4 and Pace Pro both have AMOLED displays, which are brighter than the MIP display on the Pace 3, but the 3 is still easy to read when outdoors, especially in sunlight.

The Pace 3 doesn't have a mic as the 4 does, but it does have a barometer, multi-band GPS tracking, and a 5ATM waterproof rating, like the others. The Pace 3 is charged directly with a cable, whereas the Pace Pro and Pace 4 both come with an adapter you can attach to a USB-C cable.

Pace Pro and Pace 3 lasted roughly five or six days on a charge during testing, which was longer than the 4.

All three watches offer the same basic smart features with music storage for MP3 files, notification support and a weather widget. The 3 only has breadcrumb navigation, which means you won't get offline maps like the Pro. If storage matters to you, the Pace Pro offers 32GB, whereas the 3 and 4 offer just 4GB.

If you don’t mind the MIP display, the Pace 3 is the best value of the three. Maps can be handy at times, though, so it's worth deciding whether or not this will be a key feature for you.

One final thing to consider is that the Pace 3 is being phased out, so while you can get a great saving on the Coros line, you might get longer-term support for the Pace 4. That all said and done, Coros has an admirable record of updating the older watches, so our tester Nick Harris-Fry wasn't too concerned that this would be an issue.
