Surprise! You can still get this best-selling Samsung OLED TV for under $1,000 at Best Buy
If you're still looking for an OLED TV, some deals are floating around in the wake of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I found two of the cheapest OLEDs on the market still down to their lowest prices right now, and they're both under $1,000.
Right now, the 65-inch Samsung S84F OLED TV is $949 at Best Buy. That's over 50% slashed off the asking price, knocking $1,050 off to make it one of the cheapest OLEDs you can buy currently. But, if the S84F isn't your forte, the 65-inch LG B5 OLED is $999 at Best Buy. So, you have options.
The Samsung S84F is one of the cheapest OLED TVs you can buy, yet it's still stacked with tons of features that make it a great bargain. For one, it's built to have incredible upscaling, plus it offers HDR10 and HDR10+ for serious HDR performance. While you won't get Dolby Vision like the B5 OLED, you do have access to Dolby Atmos and can use the TV as a smart home hub with SmartThings. Right now, the S84F is even cheaper than the B5, despite BF and CM deals behind us.
The LG B5 is a lovely counter to the Samsung S84F, offering Dolby Vision as opposed to HDR10+. We highlighted in our LG B5 OLED review that it's equipped with incredible color and a strong webOS interface. Just like Tizen OS, webOS gives you access to several cloud gaming services, so you're not missing out on that. Plus, the B5 offers one of the lowest latencies in our testing at just 9.0ms.
I'm a big fan of Samsung's OLEDs, and the S84F is a particular highlight given its inexpensive pricing. It's a best-selling OLED TV for a reason: it offers stellar color and brightness, with a host of gaming features that set it apart from the rest.
One thing to keep in mind is that Samsung TVs drop Dolby Vision support in favor of HDR10+, so if you'd prefer an OLED with borader HDR coverage (as Dolby Vision is the most popular format), the LG B5 is more suitable for you.
In terms of performance, the two TVs are likely similar in brightness and color, given they use the same WOLED panel. This means the Samsung S84F doesn't offer superior color coverage like its other counterparts, including the Samsung S95F and S90F, but still has serious upscaling chops with its NQ4 AI Gen2 processor.
The Samsung S84F also has access to the Samsung Art Store, akin to the Frame TV range. This turns the OLED into a full-blown museum, offering you more than just a blank screen when it's powered off, so you can liven up the room during the holidays and beyond. It's subtle, but impactful in all the right ways.
You can also rest easy knowing the S84F will see continuous updates for seven years. LG's similar upgrade window only offers five years of updates, so the S84F will feel fresh and new well beyond 2030. But the S84F is only available in 65-inch and 77-inch, so if you need a wider range of TV sizes, the LG B5 might be a better pick.
