Is your Pixel 10 series phone experiencing app crashing? — you’re not alone

There are a few things worse than your phone’s apps suddenly crashing, but usually it's pretty easy to solve. However, it seems that certain users are experiencing a consistent issue with the Pixel 10 series phones.

The problem was detailed on a post on Reddit from user hootenanymessenger, who experienced the crashes on their Pixel 10 Pro. According to the post, the fault causes apps to suddenly freeze, followed by a pop-up that states the app “isn’t responding.” This was also showcased in a post on X from @ArtemR, which included screenshots of several different apps showing the pop-up.

Usually, when this happens, the solution is to restart the app or, failing that, clear the app's cache data. Sadly, according to users on Reddit, many of the old fixes don’t seem to solve this current issue.

Instead, the solution one user gave was to install the Android 16 October update, uninstall Google Play services and the Google Play Store updates, then update them again.

Please note that doing this will sign you out of your Google Account, so you will need to log back in to restore complete functionality. Alternatively, some users have reported that only clearing the Google Play Services data worked for them.

If you haven’t experienced the issue and haven’t updated your Google Play services to the latest build, then we’d recommend holding off for now. Thankfully, it's likely a software issue that's causing the problem, over a hardware fault. As such, Google should be able to solve it with a patch.

So far, the fault primarily seems to be affecting the newer models like the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL. There are some scattered reports of the issue showing up on the Pixel 9, but not to the same extent. The fault also doesn't appear to be affecting other Android devices at this time.

The Pixel 10 has had its fair share of issues since its launch, including some quite serious ones. For instance, many users reported a screen problem shortly after launch that had users seeing a "colorful snow," according to Android Authority. On top of that, we also saw users reporting a fault with the Google Wallet that blocked some users from adding new cards. However, Google is usually good at solving the faults prudently, and we would still count the Pixel 10 series as some of the best phones you can buy.
