Being a side sleeper and bedding tester, I'm often confused with the sheer number of options available on the market.
However, one thing I've learned while testing some of the best pillows of 2025 is that consistent support is a non-negotiable. No matter how comfy or plush the pillow fill is, if isn't properly holding up your neck and shoulder in alignment with your spine, you'll likely end up with headaches and neck pain.
The Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Neck is a popular choice when it comes to firm support for side sleeping, but how does it compare with our our top pillow overall, the Coop Original Adjustable? Here I weigh up the two against each other on parameters like price, materials and support, to find the ultimate winner. Scroll down to find out more...

- Tempur-Pedic offer generous 'buy one get one free' discounts during major sale events
- The Coop Original Adjustable typically has 20% off in major sales and comes with excellent sleep benefits
A Coop Original Adjustable pillow is available to buy in three shapes (classic, crescent and cut-out) and two sizes (queen and king). A queen Coop Original in the classic shape is priced at $85, while a king will cost you $99.
It also comes with a 100-night sleep trial, 5-year warranty and free shipping. During all major sale events like Presidents' Day, Memorial Day or the upcoming Black Friday, you'll typically find up to 20% off Coop pillows which drops the MSRP of a queen classic Original Adjustable from $85 to $63.50.
The Tempur-Neck is pricier in comparison, with an MSRP starting at $99 for a small size. A medium is $109, while the price of a large pillow is $129. They are currently offering bundle savings, where you can get two small size for $169, two medium size for $179, or two large size for $219.
The Tempur-Neck falls slightly behind the Coop in terms of sleep benefits since it does not include a sleep trial, 'just' a 5-year warranty and free shipping. However, they can run discounts as high as 50% off during major Tempur-Pedic mattress sales, and sometimes offer a 'buy one get one free' deal.

Overall, we think the Coop Original Adjustable has the upper-hand in price, deals and benefits.
Coop Original Adjustable vs Tempur-Neck Pillow: Design & materials
- Coop Original includes an adjustable memory foam and microfiber fill
- The Tempur-Neck is made from a single block of Tempur foam
- The Coop Original classic has a standard pillow shape, while the Tempur- Neck has a unique ergonomic design
The Coop Original Adjustable is available in three shapes: classic, crescent and cut-out. No matter the shape you opt for, the pillow fill is a blend of contouring cross-cut memory foam and cushioning microfiber. And, it comes with an extra half pound bag of fill, which is how you can adjust the feel and firmness.
The outer cover is made of breathable Lulltra fabric (60% polyester and 40% bamboo-derived viscose rayon) and it's both easily removable and machine-washable.
The Tempur-Neck, on the other hand, features an ergonomic design which follows the natural curve of your neck when you're side or back sleeping. It is crafted from a single block of the brand's pressure-relieving Tempur foam, also known for its sturdy build and support.
The Tempur-Neck also comes in a hypoallergenic polyester soft-knit cover which is removable and machine washable. Hot sleeper? You have the option of upgrading your Tempur-Neck and adding their cooling cover, which features additional heat-absorbing fibers, for an extra $10.
When comparing the design of these two pillows, what stood out to me the most is that the Tempur-Neck arrives as a ready-to-sleep pillow for side sleeping, while the Coop Original Adjustable does not. While the Tempur-Neck can be used right out of the package — you may need to spend time trying to figure out the firmness level that works for you with the Coop Original by adjusting the fill, and I found it required fluffing up before bed.
Overall, the Tempur-Neck stands out as the better side sleeper pillow based on design and materials.
Coop Original Adjustable vs Tempur-Neck Pillow: Comfort and support
- Coop Original Adjustable has a plush sink-in feel and you can use the extra fill to adjust the firmness
- Tempur-Neck is extra firm
- The curved design of the Tempur-Neck offers instant pressure relief
During the Coop Original Adjustable review period, I found it resembled a hotel-quality natural down pillow. It delivers luxurious sink-in comfort, with the foam and fiber fill cradling your form to give subtle pressure relief to your head, neck and shoulders.
The only gripe I had is that it takes quite a bit of trial and error to get the fill and firmness just right for your sleep. I had to use a quarter of the extra fill that comes with the pillow to achieve the medium-firm support I prefer. The Coop Original also tends to flatten easily, so fluffing it up before bed became a yet another step of my nighttime routine.
The Tempur-Neck, on the other hand, is entirely different in design, comfort and support. I reported in my Tempur-Neck pillow review that sleeping on it resulted in spa-like pressure relief which worked well to ease muscle tension in my neck and shoulders.
It is firmer than most bed pillows and yet delivers a contouring support when you're sleeping on your side or back. This is why it's our top recommendation for neck pain in our guide to the best pillow for side sleepers. It also doesn't require any adjustments and will consistently deliver firm support, night after night.
Coop Original Adjustable vs Tempur-Neck Pillow: Which should you buy?
Buy the Coop Original Adjustable Pillow if...
✅ You're a combination sleeper: If you're a side and/or stomach sleeper, the Coop Original is the better choice. Stomach sleepers cannot use the Tempur-Neck due to its ergonomic design.
✅ You prefer a plush pillow: Love down-like, sink-in comfort? The Coop Original Adjustable is the perfect pick for you thanks to the memory foam and microfiber fill.
✅ You want a pillow with a sleep trial: The Coop Original comes with the best trial period I've spotted for pillows: 100 days.
Buy the Tempur-Neck Pillow if...
✅ You're a side or back sleeper: The Tempur-Neck's unique design follows the natural curve of your neck in these two positions.
✅ You need a firm pillow: If you prefer your pillow to have a firm yet contouring feel, the Tempur-Neck will fit the bill. It provides consistent support all night long and does not require any adjustments or fluffing up.
✅ You want instant pressure-relief: In my experience, the curved design offers instant soothing comfort that can help relax your neck and shoulder muscles, resulting in a spa-like pressure relief.
