Over the past few months, I’ve been putting a whole range of kitchen scales through their paces to select my top picks for our best kitchen scale buying guide. It was a tough challenge, weighing ingredients for bread and cakes, and then making sure all those tasty bakes didn’t go to waste!

However, all that testing wasn’t in vain, as I’ve discovered some top kitchen scales that I would recommend. One of my favorites is the KitchenAid Dual Platform Digital Scale on sale now for $37 at Amazon. It’s currently dropped by 36% and I think that’s a pretty good deal, considering you get two scales in one.

KitchenAid's Dual Platform Digital Kitchen Scale is what every baker needs — a scale that measures small increments and larger amounts. You can rely on this scale to weigh precise amounts of yeast or coffee beans, without needing a second appliance.

Two is better than one

If you’re a regular baker, you’ll know that having one of the best kitchen scales will make all the difference. But my bugbear was finding a scale that would measure heavier ingredients, such as dried fruits, rice and pasta, and give me the precision I needed when measuring small amounts of yeast. KitchenAid’s Dual Platform Digital Scale does just that. What’s more, it comes with two separate weighing platforms in one.

Precision makes all the difference

I tend to get a little obsessed watching the digits change when I’m weighing dried yeast, and it’s incredible what a difference minute amounts of ingredients can make. I use metric measurements when I’m baking, and the second, small scale, weighs grams to two decimal points. If you prefer imperial measurements, it will display ounces to three decimal points. Plus, it’s designed to register anything from .001 oz (0.01g).

This kitchen scale is sleek, and although it doesn’t come with a bowl, I’ve never found this to be a problem. The two weighing platforms, made of stainless steel, sit on a plastic base. You’ll find the battery casing underneath, which takes 3 x AAA batteries. There are also four control buttons and an LED display. The largest scale platform is labeled ‘1’ and the smaller platform is labeled ‘2’. The large scale will measure up to 11 pounds or 5kg, while the smaller scale will register up to 16 ounces or 500g.

If you want to weigh small amounts of ingredients, and are short on space, KitchenAid's Dual Platform Digital Kitchen Scale, is a reliable option that will save you purchasing a second precision scale.
