Trying to figure out when you can stream "Predator: Badlands" at home? That's understandable. While it's been a rough fall for Hollywood, "Predator: Badlands" has been one of the lone bright spots at the box office. There's a simple reason for this: it's good.
Despite originally raising eyebrows for its tame PG-13 rating, the latest installment in the Predator franchise has managed to impress fans and critics alike. Tom's Guide senior writer Alix Blackburn praised it for being "a bold departure from what we’ve seen before," and I lifted the movie up as proof that legacy sequels don't have to suck (looking at you, "Tron Ares"). On Rotten Tomatoes, "Predator: Badlands" has scored an 86% "fresh" rating from critics and a truly impressive 95% from audiences.
Where can you stream 'Predator: Badlands'
The Predator franchise is part of 20th Century Studios, which is part of Disney. So you'll be able to stream "Predator: Badlands" on Hulu and Disney Plus. Before that, you'll also be able to buy or rent it digitally from Amazon, Apple and other digital storefronts.
Now, there is a wrinkle here. Disney is planning to sunset the Hulu app in 2026. That means that, even though this movie will be Hulu-branded, it might only be on Disney Plus, because the Hulu app might not exist by the time this movie is available to stream.
When can you buy or rent 'Predator: Badlands'?
At the moment, there's no digital release date for "Predator: Badlands" on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) services. But there's some historical data out there that allows me to make an educated guess that I think will prove accurate.
Typically, 20th Century Studios films have around a two-month window from when they debut in theaters until they arrive on PVOD. Last year, "Alien: Romulus" debuted in theaters on Aug. 15, 2024, and was released on PVOD services on Oct. 15, 2024. This year, "The Amateur" hit theaters on April 11 and arrived on PVOD around two months later on June 10.
Based on this pattern, I predict that you'll be able to buy or rent "Predator: Badlands" from PVOD services starting on Dec. 9. That's when you should be able to head over to Amazon, Apple or your preferred digital storefront and start watching.
When can you stream 'Predator: Badlands' on Hulu and Disney Plus?
I can also take a good guess at when "Predator: Badlands" will hit Hulu and Disney Plus. Both "Alien: Romulus" and "The Amateur" hit Hulu about three months after their theatrical debut. So it's pretty safe to assume this movie will do the same.
I predict that "Predator: Badlands" will be available to stream on Hulu and Disney Plus starting Feb. 10, 2026. Whether or not the Hulu app still exists at that point, of course, remains to be seen.
What is 'Predator: Badlands' about?
If you haven't seen "Predator: Badlands" yet, here's the rundown. The movie centers on Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi), a Yautja who is considered a runt by his people, including his father, the Yautja clan leader Njohrr (Reuben de Jong). This has led Dek to be an outcast, with only his brother, Kwei (Mike Homik), still by his side.
However, their brotherly bond is shattered when Njohrr arrives at Kwei's ship, demanding that the older brother kill his runt sibling. Kwei refuses and sacrifices himself to protect Dek, sending the ship into space.
But Dek isn't out of the woods yet, because the ship has been programmed to fly to Genna, known to the Yautja as the "death planet." There, Dek will have become the apex predator on the planet, and only killing the deadly Kalisk will give him a chance at proving to his clan that he's a worthy Yautja.
Lucky for him, he has some help in the form of Tessa (Elle Fanning), a Weyland-Yutani synthetic humanoid who is part of a mission from the Earth-based corporation. Unlucky for Dek, Tessa has a sister, Thia (also Elle Fanning), and she's less friendly.
