'Idiocracy'

Watch On

An Army librarian (Luke Wilson) is chosen for a top-secret hibernation experiment and forgotten. Five hundred years later, Joe Bauers wakes to a future filled with cringeworthy slogans, corporate mashups, and televised everything. Reading is rare, crops are dying because they’re watered with a sports drink, and the president (Terry Crews) is an absolute moron — even if he is the smartest person alive, according to an IQ scan.

Joe finds himself recruited to fix a nation that can’t even explain its own problems. It's a horrifying look at a future that we may be hurtling toward, but absolutely hilarious thanks to director and writer Mike Judge, who you know from "Office Space" and "King of the Hill."

Watch On

Satan (Harvey Keitel) is ready to choose an heir after reigning over Hell for 10,000 years. His sons, Adrian (Rhys Ifans) and Cassius (Tommy "Tiny" Lister Jr.), storm off to Earth to claim it by force. That leaves Nicky (Adam Sandler), their well-meaning but clueless brother, to head topside with a flask and a talking bulldog for backup to figure out what to do when he gets there.

In New York City, he learns the rules of mortal life, falls for a music-obsessed woman named Valerie (Patricia Arquette), and races to find and corral his siblings before the balance between Hell and Earth collapses.

'The Death of Stalin'

Watch On

In Moscow, 1953, Joseph Stalin (Adrian McLoughlin) collapses. Soviet leadership scrambles to figure out what to do next before the body turns cold. The premier, ministers, generals, and censors trip over protocol while trying to calculate which move is the right one, while hilariously stumbling over every single thing they do.

"The Death of Stalin" might be about a single transfer of power, but it's also a madcap comedy about how quickly the Soviet powers fall apart when faced with an insurmountable obstacle. It's also a star-studded affair with deadpan jokes and political commentary that'll feel fresh no matter when you watch it.
