Sling TV is getting a price hike with no rhyme or reason, and what you'll pay next month depends on where you live

Sling TV, one of the best streaming services, could be getting a price increase across various subscription tiers, with prices going up by $4 per month. Confusingly, it's not clear if this increase is only hitting some subscribers or if Sling TV is raising prices for everyone.

On Reddit, we're seeing reports from subscribers that their bills are suddenly going up without notification from Sling.

  • Sling Base: $49.99
  • Sling Orange: $45.99
  • Sling Blue: $49.99
  • Sling Select: $24.99
  • Sling Orange & Blue: $64.99
  • Sling Blue with all three of ABC/NBC/Fox: Was $5 for locals, now $9/mo.
  • Sling Blue with one or two of ABC/NBC/Fox: Was $0 for locals, now $4/mo.
  • Sling Select with all three of ABC/NBC/Fox: Pricing has not changed: $19.99 for no locals, $24.99 for 1-2, and $29.99 for all 3

However, Sling TV has not shared those details, and the website currently shows either the older prices or totally different prices. Orange & Blue, for example, has a $35 a month deal for your first month, but the normal price shows $69.99, which is more expensive than what CCN reported.

Strangely, the compare plans page still shows the 60.99 price.

Based on what we can see, it appears that the price increase may be due to carriage fees for local channels like local versions of Fox, NBC, and ABC.

It's also not clear if pricing is changing everywhere or only in certain regions. I did try different zip codes on the Sling website, and I got different prices depending on where the zipcode was located.

Sling TV has yet to announce price increases on social media or via its newsroom. Redditors pointed out that they have yet to receive texts or emails from Sling about any price increases.

I checked with colleagues who are subscribed to Sling and they haven't received any notifications, but their bills don't appear to have changed either.

Tom's Guide has reached out to Sling TV for clarification and confirmation. We will update this story once the streamer sends a response.
