Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to curl up on the couch with someone you love (or even just yourself) and indulge in a little romance. Netflix is packed with romantic movies, but let’s be honest, not all of them are worth your time. Scrolling endlessly through countless titles can turn a special evening into a stressful hunt for something actually enjoyable.
That’s why I’ve put together an easy list of five of the best movies to stream this Valentine’s Day. You’ll find a little something for everyone: modern romances that’ll make your heart flutter, feel-good teen flicks, a timeless classic that never gets old, and even a horror-romance for those who like their love with a side of thrills. So instead of guessing or scrolling for hours, here are five Valentine’s Day movies to choose from on Netflix.
‘Set It Up’ (2018)
Long before he starred in blockbusters like “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Twisters,” Glen Powell was winning hearts in the charming rom‑com “Set It Up.” The best way to describe this Netflix original is pure cinematic comfort food at its finest, with a genuinely feel-good story where you actually like all of the main characters, which is rare in the genre’s landscape today. It’s also a perfect example of a romantic comedy done right: it mostly follows the familiar formula but isn’t afraid to break the rules with its own playful style and rhythm.
“Set It Up” follows two overworked executive assistants in New York City, Harper (Zoey Deutch) and Charlie (Powell), who are drowning under the demands of their high‑powered bosses. Desperate for a break and more free time, they hatch a scheme to set their bosses up on a date so the new romance will consume them and leave the assistants with lighter workloads. As they engineer meet‑ups and awkward situations to bring their bosses together, Harper and Charlie end up spending more time with each other than they expected.

‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ (2018)
I have to admit, “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is a guilty pleasure of mine. This teen flick is one of the happiest, most lighthearted forms of a rom‑com you could ask for, and its lack of seriousness is exactly what makes it so charming. Based on the novel by Jenny Han, the movie (which later expands into two sequels) features a likeable protagonist and a fun premise centered on the classic “fake relationship” trope. Sometimes all you need is a cute, feel-good rom‑com, and “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” delivers on that promise perfectly.
High school junior Lara Jean Covey (Lana Condor) writes secret letters to every boy she’s ever had a crush on and tucks them away in a hatbox. One day, those private letters are mysteriously mailed to the intended recipients, forcing Lara Jean to face her past crushes head‑on as they show up in her life unexpectedly. To navigate the chaos, she agrees to a pretend relationship with one of the boys, Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo), to stave off awkward confrontations and rumors. Obviously, this convenient agreement quickly becomes more complicated.

‘Heart Eyes’ (2025)
Now we’re moving onto something much more up my alley: a horror movie with a romantic twist. “Heart Eyes” was one of my pleasant surprises when I saw it in theaters in 2025, and I think my low expectations only made the experience better. The movie works because it fully commits to being solid popcorn entertainment that doesn’t take itself too seriously. That self‑awareness is what makes its romance, humor, and horror so refreshingly fun. What at first seems like a typical rom‑com slasher turns out to be one of the biggest surprises, delivering plenty of brutal kills and dark comedy to make your Valentine’s even more thrilling.
“Heart Eyes” is about a masked killer who targets romantic couples every Valentine’s Day. When co‑workers Ally (Olivia Holt) and Jay (Mason Gooding) are mistakenly assumed to be a couple, they suddenly find themselves on the killer’s radar, even though they’ve only just met. As the body count rises and the “Heart Eyes Killer” stalks lovers across the city, Ally and Jay must work through their increasingly complicated situation while trying to stay alive.

‘Love at First Sight’ (2023)
Destined lovers meeting while traveling isn’t a new trope, but it’s one we can’t help falling for. “Love at First Sight” makes this idea feel fresh by pairing us with two charming leads who meet by chance, while playfully asking what love (especially love at first sight) really means, and whether it’s fate or just a matter of chance. We need more young adult romances that are as charming, sweet, emotional, and fun as this one, even if they follow a predictable path.
“Love at First Sight” follows 20‑year‑old Hadley Sullivan (Haley Lu Richardson), who misses her flight from New York to London and is rebooked on the next plane at JFK Airport, where she meets British student Oliver Jones (Ben Hardy) in the terminal. After a chance dinner and an unexpected seat beside each other on the flight, the pair spend the journey talking and getting to know one another. When they arrive in London, they lose track of each other in the chaos of customs before exchanging contact information. With no way to reconnect, Hadley goes on a search to find Oliver again in a bustling city.

‘You’ve Got Mail’ (1988)
To close out this list, we have an absolute classic that everyone should watch at least once. “You’ve Got Mail” feels like a warm, comforting hug in movie form, and it’s surprising how relevant it still feels more than 20 years later. But it’s not just nostalgia or its timeless appeal that keeps audiences coming back, it’s everything. The romantic comedy has plenty of saccharine sweetness, but in the best way: gentle, lovable, and utterly delightful. It’s a perfect date movie, and I’d recommend it to anyone heading out (or staying in) on a first date this Valentine’s weekend.
“You’ve Got Mail” follows Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan), the owner of a small children’s bookstore on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, whose business faces a serious threat when a large corporate bookstore chain opens across the street. Joe Fox (Tom Hanks), an executive with the chain, and Kathleen clash in person over their competing businesses. Unbeknownst to them, they have been anonymously exchanging emails under screen names and have begun to form a close connection online. Neither realizes the other’s true identity, but when the truth comes out, both must face the unexpected bond they’ve built through their messages.
