I’m constantly on the hunt for thriller movies on Netflix, which means this week I’m scanning the streaming service’s February 2026 slate and picking out the flicks packed with action, excitement and suspense. Even better when they come offering a shocking twist or two.
Right now is a great time to be looking for new to Netflix thriller movies. Not only did the streamer add a couple of dozen movies to its library at the start of the month, but the week ahead brings even more new arrivals. These include a zippy thriller that centers on a chaotic firefight and a twisty film starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie as con artists.
If you’re also craving some thrillers on Netflix this week, here are three recent additions I believe are definitely worthy of your watchlist.
Best Netflix thriller movies to watch this week
‘Focus’ (2015)
Star-power is the name of the game in “Focus.” This crime thriller pairs Will Smith and Margot Robbie, and the two make for a fantastic double-act. They are more than capable of elevating some of the movie’s questionable writing. This movie, set in the world of high-stakes cons, is a load lot of fun. You just might want to switch your brain off for the duration, as there are more than a few leaps in narrative logic you’ll need to overlook.
Nicky (Smith) is a veteran con artist with a clever play for every situation. When a novice grifter, Jess (Robbie), tries to trick him, Nicky quickly sees through the ruse. But he’s impressed by her spirit and decides to take her under his wing. Eventually, they go their separate ways after a romantic tryst, but a few years later, they are reunited. However, in a relationship between two con artists, it’s hard to know who’s playing whom.

‘Homefront’ (2013)
Jason Statham’s newest action-thriller, “Shelter,” is currently playing in theaters, and if you’re in the mood for another flick where the English actor plays a gruff combat specialist protecting a young ward, Netflix has just the pick for you. “Homefront” sticks in Statham’s wheelhouse and has no grand ambitions of refreshing the genre, but if you're eager to see Statham square off against a whole load of bad guys, it’ll get the job done.
Phil Broker (Statham) is a DEA agent involved in an undercover raid on a drug lab. But when the operation goes wrong, and his cover is blown, he decides to retire from the force and move to a small town to raise his young daughter, Maddy (Izabela Vidovic). But trouble has a way of finding Broker, and he soon finds himself at odds with a drug lord (James Franco).

‘Free Fire’ (2016)
If you’re in the mood for an action thriller with plenty of comedy and an impressive ‘70s sense of style, look no further than “Free Fire.” Directed by Ben Wheatley, whose eclectic filmography leaps between indie horror, Hitchcock remakes and “The Meg 2,” this guns-blazing flick is a real riot, and packs plenty of recognizable names, including Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy and Babou Ceesay, who you might know from “Alien: Earth.”
Set in 1970s Boston, “Free Fire” revolves around a black market weapons deal that goes very wrong and quickly turns into a frantic shootout. There are maybe a few too many competing parties involved in the mix, which can make charting each player's motivations a little tricky, but “Free Fire” is great fun. It also runs a lean 90 minutes long, ensuring the fast-paced momentum never wavers and the story isn’t stretched too thin.
