Marvel is clearly swinging for the fences with “Avengers: Doomsday.” The moment Robert Downey Jr. was revealed to be returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom, it instantly cemented this movie as one of Marvel’s biggest gambles. It’s obvious the studio is trying to recapture some of that “Infinity War” and “Endgame” magic, and while I don’t think we’ll ever truly recreate that era again, I have to admit… I’m excited.
Interestingly, Lewis Pullman recently pushed back on concerns that “Doomsday” would just become a giant cameo parade, insisting the Russo brothers want every character to matter. But at the same time, Alan Cumming revealed scripts reportedly used secret placeholder names to hide unannounced returning characters. So while it may not be completely packed wall-to-wall with surprise appearances, this is still Marvel we’re talking about, and there are almost certainly a few hidden cameos.
If you’re just as excited as I am about this upcoming movie, here are five cameos I’d love to see in “Avengers: Doomsday,” and why each one would send Marvel fans into a frenzy.
Scarlet Witch
I’m starting off strong with my favorite Marvel character of all time, and easily one of the most iconic, badass and powerful in the entire universe. Yes, it’s Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). She’s arguably the most requested character fans want to see return, and one of the most obvious (and emotionally loaded) possibilities for “Avengers: Doomsday.”
Although Wanda Maximoff was last seen seemingly dying at the end of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” Marvel has kept her fate deliberately ambiguous, and the multiverse opens the door for almost any version of her to return. She could reappear as a variant pulled from another timeline, a fractured version of herself tied to the Darkhold, or even as part of a multiversal collapse where realities begin bleeding together.
Given her deep connection to chaos magic, the Darkhold, and characters like Vision (Paul Bettany) and her children, Wanda’s return would be a catalyst for the entire film’s emotional and magical stakes.
Daredevil
Daredevil could work as a cameo in “Avengers: Doomsday” precisely because Marvel has already established Matt Murdock as part of the MCU’s street-level corner of New York, even if he’s never officially stood alongside the Avengers. Charlie Cox’s version has already dipped in and out of the wider universe, from “Spider-Man: No Way Home” to “She-Hulk” and “Echo,” which makes it easy to justify a quick appearance without needing a full storyline.
There’s more to it though, of course. If there’s multiverse-scale chaos in “Doomsday,” it would naturally spill into Earth’s cities, and that’s where Daredevil fits in: responding to local fallout while bigger heroes handle cosmic threats.
A cameo could be as simple as Matt investigating damaged streets, crossing paths with displaced civilians, or even offering legal aid in the aftermath of an incursion event. Or he could very much join the fight in defeating Doctor Doom...
The Legacy Spider-Men
The idea of the “Legacy Spider-Men” — Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire — showing up in “Avengers: Doomsday” would be one of the most crowd-pleasing (and chaotic) cameos Marvel could possibly pull off. Maguire and Garfield already proved in “No Way Home” how effective nostalgia-driven multiversal team-ups can be, and bringing them back again would instantly raise the stakes of the MCU’s biggest crossover yet.
Their presence could work as a multiversal ripple effect: variants drawn in as reality fractures, briefly assisting the group before disappearing back to their own timelines. Tom Holland’s inclusion is the most interesting wrinkle. He is not officially confirmed for “Doomsday” and notably wasn’t part of the initial cast reveal livestream in March 2025. That absence may be tied to his upcoming film “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” suggesting Marvel is keeping his arc contained for now.
Still, it would feel strange for the MCU’s central Spider-Man to sit out an Avengers-level crisis. Whether it’s all three together or just a multiversal tease, the “Spider-Gang” would be huge fan service, even if it risks pushing cameo overload.
Wolverine
Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is arguably the biggest missing piece still hovering over “Doomsday.” Even with the film already confirmed to feature multiple original X-Men returning, Jackman’s name has not been officially announced, which keeps his involvement firmly in the realm of speculation. Marvel is clearly treating Wolverine as a character they can reveal at any moment for maximum impact.
That secrecy actually makes his cameo feel more likely than not. Wolverine is one of the few legacy Fox-era characters who can bridge both emotional weight and multiversal logic, especially after his return in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” If “Doomsday” is assembling fractured realities, it’s easy to imagine Logan being pulled in as part of a final “anchor” group of mutants.
Beyond Jackman, there’s also growing expectation that other original X-Men could appear in some capacity, such as Jean Grey, Storm, Rogue, and Iceman.
Iron Man
Look, I know this is a wild one. But with Robert Downey Jr. confirmed to return to the MCU as Doctor Doom in “Avengers: Doomsday,” it wouldn’t be a huge leap for Marvel to also explore an Iron Man variant, even if just briefly. The multiverse concept opens the door to alternate versions of Tony Stark, meaning a cameo could appear as a “what if” echo of the hero fans know.
It could even be used to underline the contrast between Stark’s legacy and Doom’s rise, especially given how closely tied RDJ is to both identities in audience memory.
On top of that, fan speculation has long circled the idea of Tom Cruise playing a Tony Stark variant, which is a concept that predates the MCU’s official Iron Man casting and still resurfaces in multiverse discussions. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Marvel nodded to that casting “what if,” even if only as a brief, blink-and-you-miss-it cameo. For now, we'll just have to wait and see!
