After several busy weeks of new releases across the best streaming services, the next seven days are a little quieter. But there’s still a solid handful of noteworthy new additions across streaming platforms that you’ll want to get in your watchlist over the coming days.

The biggest new movie on streaming is the PVOD debut of “Regretting You.” This romantic drama adapts the Colleen Hoover novel of the same name, and was a real crowd-pleaser in theaters. Meanwhile, Netflix offers a one-two punch of a new holiday flick and an acclaimed drama, catering to every taste. Plus, Hulu has a comedy that combines “Bridesmaids” and “Die Hard,” and it’s just as utterly stupid as that idea sounds.

If you’re in the mood to watch something new this week, these are the most noteworthy new movies arriving across streaming services. Alternatively, if you fancy binge-watching instead, here’s a guide to the top new TV shows you can watch this week and check out the top 5 Netflix shows of the year worth binge watching.

‘Regretting You’ (PVOD)

Critics and viewers don’t always see eye to eye, but the divide between the two on “Regretting You” is particularly sizeable. Over on Rotten Tomatoes, this romantic drama based on the Colleen Hoover novel of the same name scored just 28% from critics, but viewers awarded it a strong 85%. I personally find myself in the middle. I can acknowledge its ham-fisted dialogue and reliance on narrative tropes, but at the same time, despite my willingness to poke at its flaws, I also found myself oddly swept up in the drama of it all.

Looking to tap into the same mindshare that powered last year’s “It Ends With Us” to global success, “Regretting You” centers on Morgan Davidson (Allison Williams), who is left devastated when her husband (Scott Eastwood) and sister (Willa Fitzgerald) both die in a car crash. Along with her teenage daughter (Mckenna Grace), she has to navigate the stages of grief, while also confronting some unthinkable family secrets her husband left behind.

‘Blue Moon’ (PVOD)

As 2025 winds down (how is it almost December already?), talk in movie circles is turning to next year’s awards season, and one movie that is quickly picking up momentum is “Blue Moon.” This biographical comedy-drama from “Boyhood” director Richard Linklater could have Oscar gold in its future. Its biggest chance to bring home a statue may be in the Best Actor category as star Ethan Hawke is getting highly praised for his performance as Lorenz Hart, one-half of the Broadway writing duo Rodgers and Hart.

Rather than focus on Hart’s whole life or his years of success, “Blue Moon” is a little more reflective and instead centers on the lyricist’s troubled final act. Set in 1943, Hart is cynical and racked with self-doubt after watching the opening night of “Oklahoma!,” the new musical from his former collaborator Richard Rodgers (Andrew Scott). Modest in scale, but packing a real emotional punch, “Blue Moon” certainly seems worthy of Oscar buzz.

Netflix’s holiday slate for 2025 is well underway, and while the streaming service has so far served up subscribers seasonal romantic comedies, this week it’s debuting… another rom-com set over the Christmas period. The silver lining is that “Jingle Bell Heist” appears to add something slightly different to the formula, so it might pull in viewers bored of watching attractive people fall in love in wintry towns. If the name didn’t clue you in, this Netflix movie is about two criminals falling in love while planning a heist.

Sophie (Olivia Holt) and Nick (Connor Swindells) are frustrated workers in a swanky London department store. Both have their eye on robbing the place over the holidays, and so reluctantly join forces to pull off the high-stakes score. Naturally, they start to bond and develop feelings as they meticulously plan their crime, but this romance could put the grand plan in jeopardy.

‘Bride Hard’ (Hulu)

Rebel Wilson stars in this action-comedy about an out-of-control bridesmaid. No, this isn’t a very late sequel to “Bridesmaids,” instead it’s “Bride Hard.” A movie that combines the girlpower comedy of the 2011 hit with the action sensibilities of “Die Hard." It also reunites Wilson with “Pitch Perfect” co-star Anna Camp and features Oscar-winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Anna Chlumsky. It’s a high-concept flick that sounds more fun on paper than in reality, but if you have a high tolerance for slapstick, you might have some throwaway fun.

Sam (Wilson) is the maid of honor to her childhood best friend, Betsy (Camp), but finds the role difficult to juggle alongside her duties as a secret agent. When she’s forced to take a mission during Betsy’s bachelorette party, she’s demoted to a bridesmaid. But Sam gets an unlikely shot at redemption when armed mercenaries crash Betsy’s wedding, and the butt-kicking agent is required to spring into action to save her friend’s special day.

‘Left-Handed Girl’ (Netflix)

When I first heard about “Left-Handed Girl,” all I could think about was that classic “The Simpsons” episode where Ned Flanders opens “The Leftorium,” but putting that very dated reference to one side, this Taiwanese family drama looks worth taking seriously. It’s a real critical darling, scoring 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, and has been much-praised for its “relatable family dynamics” and its gorgeously scenic shots of Taipei, the capital of Taiwan.

Directed by Shih-Ching Tsou and co-written and produced by Sean Baker, who won big at this year’s Academy Awards for his movie “Anora,” “Left-Handed Girl” centers on a single mother and her two daughters, who return to Taipei after several years away. Opening a stall in a busy night market, the family unit faces a tricky adaptation to their new environment. What has being left-handed got to do with all this? The family’s grandfather believes being left-handed is a sign of the devil. Ned Flanders would disagree.
