2. Apricorn's Ez-Bus-Mini In Detail

Included in the delivery of the Ez-Bus-Mini are a USB extension cable, a manual, and two CDs with application programs for data backup, data synchronization, and data encryption. A protective cover is also included in the packet in which the hard disk is effectively protected from vibrations during transport. Packed in it, the hard disk even withstood a freefall during the test from a height of 28 inches/70 centimeters from the desktop to the carpeted floor without any permanent damage.

Delivery contents: The protective cover can be seen in the background in the upper right, and up front is the Ez-Bus-Mini 20 GB

A green LED on the front shows the user when the hard disk is being used.

On the back side of the casing, there is a depression in which the somewhat short 3 ½ inch/9 centimetre USB cable including the connector can be placed when traveling.

If you need a longer connecting line, you can use the USB extension cable (37.5"/95 cm) that is included.

If your remove the casing cover, then the 1.8" hard disk from Hitachi appears together with a small control board.

Apricorn uses the models of the Travelstar C4K40 series for hard disks. The Ez-Bus-Mini 20 GB that we tested was based on the HTC424020F7AT00. This hard disk has a disk that rotates at 4200 rpm. The cache of this model is 2 megaBytes. In addition, Apricorn also offers a model that holds 40 GB. Hitachi also provides the HTC424040F9AT00 hard disk for this. Two disks rotate at 4200 rpm in it and the cache size is also 2 megaBytes.

Before we turn to the benchmark results, here is a description of the software tools that are provided for data backup, synchronization, and encryption.

SecondCopy is a nice tool, and easy to use. I recently switched to a different tool you may want to look at, FileSync, from Tresante Software (http://www.tresante.com). Very easy to use, I may keep this instead of SecondCopy.

Thanks for your information. I lost all my data due to sudden power cut in my house. I didn't have data back up then. As I am not a very computer literate I was utterly confused and didn't know how to recover my data. Then my friend advised me to visit http://www.supportonclick.com. As I followed his advise the staffs over recovered my lost data almost within a minute. Since then I have shifted all the responsibilities of data backup to them and they are performing their duty quite successfully. I don't think I will be able to follow this method but definitely refer it to my friends and let you know their feed back. Thanks again.
