So-So Battery Life
9. So-So Battery Life
The battery life is a little short for a game console; depending on the type of game and its use of 3D, it ranges between 3 and 5 hours. Ridge Racer, for example, ran out of steam after 3 hours and 15 minutes. For audio use, battery life goes up to 7 hours, and with video it drops back down to 3 ½ hours. So buying a second battery will be almost a necessity for anyone who plans to use the PSP a great deal.

Accessories

Logitech has already come out with a complete line of accessories for the PSP. Among them is a pair of speakers with a base that holds the console; this will be ideal for watching a movie or listening to music, especially since the quality is astounding for its size.
A more discreet accessory is a four-way headphone splitter (PlayGear Share) for listening in a group without disturbing other people ($10). It's very practical for watching a movie on a train, for example.
Finally, there's the PlayGear Pocket, a protective case made of transparent polycarbonate. While it weighs just 6 ounces (170 grams) the case is effective at protecting the PSP against being dropped. When open, it can also be placed on a table to serve as a support when watching a movie, for example ($20).
