Wacky Samurai Robot Serves Food, Dances
These robots would be creepy in a dark ally.
DJMICK Travel reports that there is a restaurant in Bangkok that features a staff of waiters comprised of robots. In fact, the Hajime Restaurant is Thailand's first Japanese robot restaurant. While the idea sounds rather awesome, the video embedded below should cause a little grin, especially when the goofy Samurai-style robot starts dancing.
The entire Hajime Japanese establishment-- including the four servant robots imported from Japan-- cost Lapassarad Thanaphant around 30 million baht ($927,600 USD). The mechanical help spend most of their time bringing food to patrons, and collecting dirty dishes. However they'll also dance from time to time while (seemingly) happily performing their duties.
Check out the samurai robots in action in the video embedded below! The overlaying song gives it that extra... something.

or cuts your head off... samurai style.
It's actually kinda creepy.
This is a a small glimpse of the future ... the robots are a little late, but they will come ...
I'm in Bangkok but I've never heard of the restaurant. I'll have to check it out.
BTW, tipping is not the norm here.
OMG that robot looks so stupid... why not make one R2D2 form factor with a flat head and the exact heigt of the table/adjustable height and a hand to drag the plate from the table on his head, carry it and push it back on the clients table? seems easier and less creepy.
To me the way it moves/dances reminds me of Johny 5. Lets hope none of these robots get hit by lighting.
They need to send it for dancing lessons.
