Black Friday might still be a few weeks away, but Amazon has just discounted one of the best foldable phones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Right now, you can grab the 512GB Galaxy Z Fold 7 for 18% off at Amazon, which means you're looking at a final price of $1,819. However, this cost is only for the Jet Black version of the phone, with the Blue Shadow and Silver Shadow options only being discounted by 14%.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 stands as one of the pinnacles of what foldable phones can do. With a staggering 8-inch inner display and a 6.5-inch outer screen, the Z Fold 7 maximizes the best part of a foldable phone. If you combine that with the power of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and the improved cameras, there's very little not to love.

With the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Samsung took everything that worked for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and improved it. The phone offers a larger 8-inch inner display. However, the 6.5-inch outer display is arguably a bigger deal for me, as it's more usable than the thinner screens on the other Z Folds.

Not only is the phone bigger, it's also considerably thinner than the older model. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 measures 8.9mm when folded and a staggering 4.2mm when unfolded. You might be worried about durability, but we have seen the phone survive stress test after stress test.

Samsung also improves the cameras on the phone, including upgrading the 50MP main camera from before to a pixel-crunching 200MP one. Meanwhile, the 12MP ultrawide gains access to autofocus to help you capture the best image possible. You also have a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 30x space zoom to get even closer to subjects. For selfies, you have a 10MP camera on both the outer and inner display.

One of the few things it doesn't change with the hardware is the battery, which at 4,400 mAh is no improvement over the Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, the Snapdragon 8 Elite's impressive power efficiency helps to offset this shortfall, while also offering stellar overall performance.

The biggest weakness of the Z Fold series has always been the cost, and that's no different with the Galaxy Z Fold 7. As such, any discount is a bargain that should be worth your consideration.
