‘White Lotus’ Star Jason Isaacs Reveals What Mike White Has Said About Season 4
A Ratliff family spinoff isn't confirmed, but Isaacs is on board

"The White Lotus," HBO Max's sharpest satire yet is generating more buzz than ever since its explosive season 3 finale. All eyes are on showrunner Mike White and what he has planned next for the streaming service's breakout murder-mystery drama. Details on "The White Lotus" season 4 are sparse, but star Jason Isaacs has revealed what little White's told him about the show's future.
“Mike has told me things about season 4,” he told CNN in a recent interview. This cryptic nugget was all the former "Harry Potter" star offered, but it's enticing nonetheless to devoted "White Lotus" fans eager for updates. Season 3 left many unanswered questions about Isaacs' character, the Southern patriarch Timothy Ratliff, for which the 62-year-old actor earned his first-ever Emmy nomination.
"I think he’s going to prison, or he’s phoning his friend in the White House and getting a pardon, and doing charity work," he told CNN.
HBO Max greenlit "The White Lotus" season 4 back in January, and production is tentatively scheduled for next year. However, which luxurious hideaway for the rich and famous season 4 will take us to remains a mystery. Also unclear is whether any previous cast members could return, as Jennifer Coolidge, Natasha Rothwell and Jon Gries have done in past seasons.
Possible Ratliff family 'White Lotus' spinoff?
With "The White Lotus" season 3, Isaacs earned his first-ever Emmy nomination for his performance as Ratliff, whose shady finances spark an investigation that nearly drives him to deadly extremes to cover his tracks. His character was such a fan-favorite that there's even been talk of a potential spin-off centered on the Ratliff family. While no such spinoff has been officially greenlit, Isaacs told CNN he'd be happy to reprise his role.
“If the question is, am I open to Ratliff family spinoff, the answer is absolutely,” he said, but he hedged that it's not likely to happen. At least not while new seasons of "The White Lotus" are still airing.
“Is Mike White gonna put aside the time and park ‘White Lotus,’ one of the most successful TV shows in the world, and write us a spinoff?” I find it unlikely, I wouldn’t put your money on it.”
