“From” season 4 is already kicking into high gear. With episode 3 of the new season now streaming, there’s plenty of fresh nightmare fuel to experience. For those who haven’t been introduced to this sci-fi horror, it’s one of the best shows on TV right now, and perfect for viewers seeking a bingeable mystery. Catalina Sandino Moreno, who has starred in recent projects like Netflix’s “The Rip” and “John Wick: Ballerina,” is a huge part of the show’s twisty mysteries.

As a quick refresher, “From” season 4 continues to follow the trapped residents as they push closer to answers, while unleashing darker horrors. As Boyd (Harold Perrineau) struggles to hold the town together, Julie’s (Hannah Cheramy) abilities grow, the Man in Yellow emerges, and deadly revelations deepen the mystery. Escape feels even further away this time around.

What’s even better is that “From” has already been renewed for a fifth and final season, meaning the most-watched show on MGM+ has the chance to conclude its incredibly compelling story.

Moreno plays Tabitha Matthews in “From,” a determined mother trapped in the mysterious town with her family. Driven to protect her children, she becomes central to uncovering the town’s secrets, confronting trauma, and chasing escape despite some seriously devastating losses.

I had the chance to sit down with Moreno to talk about the town specifically targeting people in “From” season 4, and how her character has evolved over the seasons, especially when it comes to grief.

‘It challenges you in so many ways’

During the interview, I asked Moreno if she thinks Tabitha regrets looking for answers now that it's cost her family so much.

I don’t think knowledge is a bad thing — for her, it’s the only way forward. It’s how they’re going to figure out how to leave. So the more you know, even when it hurts the people you love, it’s necessary. It’s not a choice.

“That’s such a good question. I don’t think knowledge is a bad thing — for her, it’s the only way forward. It’s how they’re going to figure out how to leave. Without what they know now, they’d have no chance, because this isn’t an easy town to understand. It tests you, it challenges you in so many ways.

So the more you know — even when it hurts, even when it affects the people you love, like what happened to Jim and so many others — it’s necessary. It’s not a choice, really. Knowledge is something they have to have if they’re ever going to figure out what to do.”

The “Fromily” is constantly coming up with theories, and honestly, I’m right there with them. At this point, we’re all basically Jade, trying to piece it together. Even Moreno said she loves hearing fan theories because it’s clever how viewers spot things and look at a much larger puzzle. I asked her if the cast ever compares notes on what they think the town is, or if they deliberately avoid it.

“We definitely did that in the first season, but by the end of it we kind of let go, because it’s impossible to figure out. For a moment, you think you know where things are going, and then the script comes out and it’s completely different. So I don’t really do that anymore. Maybe some people still do, but I stopped after season one.

I thought, ‘I’m going to figure this out,’ but you just can’t. The writers know exactly what they’re doing, and you have to trust that they have a plan for how every character’s story ends.

I love the theories, though — I really do. Some of them make you think, ‘Oh my God, maybe that’s it,’ and then you read the next script and realize it’s not. But it’s great, because it shows how invested people are. They love these characters, they hate them, they feel something — and that’s the whole point. It’s been a crazy ride with all the theories, because sometimes the wildest ones might actually be the closest to the truth.”

“From” season 4 is streaming on MGM+. New episodes arrive weekly on Sundays through to the series finale on June 28.
