Tom Holland is swinging into theaters again with "Spider-Man: Brand New Day's" release this week, and the early reviews are surprisingly positive. I haven't gotten the chance to see it yet, but all the buzz has me convinced — I ain't gonna wait for it to hit streaming. Even with all my superhero fatigue, Spidey still has a direct line to my heart.
Still, Marvel's latest blockbuster is far from the only Tom Holland performance worth watching. Though he's stumbled with some less than stellar adaptations (looking at you, "Uncharted), Holland has proven he can shine well beyond the MCU. Whether you're looking for another action-packed adventure, a family movie to tug at your heartstrings, or a suspenseful thriller, there are plenty of options that deserve a spot on your watchlist.

'The Devil All The Time'
If you're in the mood for a star-studded psychological thriller, "The Devil All the Time" deserves a spot on your Netflix watchlist. Alongside Tom Holland you can catch other fellow MCU star, Sebastian Stan, Bill Skarsgård, and Robert Pattinson, whom he shared the limelight with in "The Odyssey."
Based on Donald Ray Pollock's Southern Gothic novel of the same name, "The Devil All the Time" unfolds across rural Ohio and West Virginia in the years following World War II. The sprawling story follows several interconnected lives, all circling around orphaned Arvin Russell (Holland). Raised by a father (Skarsgård) who warned him that "there's a lot of no-good sons of bitches out there," Arvin grows up surrounded by corrupt preachers, ruthless criminals, and violence that seems impossible to escape.

'Chaos Walking'
For more sci-fi vibes, check out "Chaos Walking" for free on YouTube. The premise is a fun one: Set on a distant colony planet where all women have supposedly died off, every man's thoughts are visible as colorful, audible images known as "noise." Holland stars as Todd Hewitt, whose life gets turned upside-down when a mysterious girl named Viola (Daisy Ridley) crash-lands on his plant. Unlike the men, Viola has no Noise, making her an anomaly and a target.
As Todd helps Viola escape the ruthless Mayor Prentiss (Mads Mikkelsen), the pair learn the truth about what really happened to the colony's women and what other secrets the town's leaders have been hiding. While it leans too much into action movie territory for my taste, the central theme about living in a world where no thought can remain private is entirely too relatable and kept me invested.

'Onward' (Disney+)
Seeing "Toy Story 5" in theaters made me want to revisit its library, and "Onward" was one that didn't really hit the first time but now it's one of my favorites. It imagines a world of mythical creatures living surprisingly ordinary modern lives not that different from our own. Holland voices a reserved teen elf named Ian Lightfoot, who receives a magical staff and spell from his late father as a birthday gift. He barely remembers his dad, but his screw-up older brother Barley (voiced by Chris Pratt) is over the moon.
The spell is meant to bring their dad back for one day, but it goes wrong, leaving only his lower half restored. The bros set off on a quest to find another magical gem and complete the spell before time runs out. It's one of the more grounded fantasy stories I've seen, culminating in an emotional ending that became one of Pixar's most celebrated in recent years.
