Prime Video isn’t exactly the overachiever of the streaming world when it comes to churning out a relentless conveyor belt of hit movies and shows. Its original lineup can sometimes feel a bit uneven since you’ve got to sift through a lot to find the real standouts. But there are still plenty worth streaming, and 2026 has gotten off to a stronger start than previous years.

That said, what it lacks in consistency it makes up for in staying power. Prime Video has built a reputation on dependable, long-running favorites that keep audiences coming back year after year, and 2026 is a strong example of that formula working, with returning series landing alongside a surprisingly solid slate of new originals.

From an action-packed mystery centered around an iconic detective to a high-energy pirate flick, the platform is starting to hit its stride. If you’re looking to stream something new, here are the five best Prime Video originals of 2026 so far.

‘Young Sherlock’

Did you know that Sherlock Holmes holds the Guinness World Record as the most portrayed human literary character in film and television history? It’s a pretty shocking fact, and as of 2026, the number of screen adaptations is estimated to be well over 300. You’d think that would make the character feel completely played out by now, but “Young Sherlock” proves that with the right cast, story, and energy, there’s still plenty of life left in him. Guy Ritchie succeeded in making this a fresh and stylish reimagining.

“Young Sherlock” reimagines the legendary detective as a raw, undisciplined 19-year-old student at Oxford University. The story kicks off when Sherlock (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) is framed for a murder at the college, forcing him to use his unrefined deductive skills to clear his name. Alongside a fellow student and unexpected ally, James Moriarty (Dónal Finn), Sherlock pursues a trail of clues involving stolen Chinese scrolls and a string of dead professors.

‘The Boys’ season 5

“The Boys” are back, but sadly this is their final run. The hit superhero drama is currently airing its last season, but even after all the chaos and brutality we’ve seen over the years, it still remains an absolute blast. Of course, a lot of that comes down to Antony Starr’s terrifying performance as the power-hungry Homelander, along with some seriously genre-bending episodes that keep things unpredictable. It’s currently on track to be Prime Video’s highest-rated show of the year.

In the fifth and final season of “The Boys,” the world has fallen completely under the control of a god-complex-driven Homelander (Starr). With the titular team fractured, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) find themselves imprisoned in a Vought-run "Freedom Camp," while Annie January (Erin Moriarty) attempts to lead a desperate underground resistance. The stakes reach a fever pitch when Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) resurfaces with a lethal Supe-killing virus.

‘Fallout’ season 2

I might be cheating a little here, because “Fallout” season 2 technically dropped late in 2025, but the majority of the new season aired in the first two months of 2026. Based on the iconic video games, this series is practically everything you’d want in an apocalyptic sci-fi drama. Moving the action to New Vegas has been a massive hit since the production design is incredibly faithful to the games, and the city feels alive, dangerous, and distinct from the California wasteland of season 1.

Following the explosive revelations of the first season, “Fallout” season 2 takes the action to the Mojave Wasteland and the iconic, neon-soaked ruins of New Vegas. Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell) and the Ghoul (Walton Goggins) form an uneasy alliance as they trek across the desert to hunt down Lucy’s father who has fled to the titular city to further Vault-Tec’s shadow agenda. While Maximus (Aaron Moten) navigates a brewing civil war within a radicalized Brotherhood of Steel, the story dives deeper into pre-war history, introducing Robert House.

‘Pretty Lethal’

The best way to describe “Pretty Lethal” is like the “John Wick” treatment in ballerina form. It’s a pretty good hook for an original movie, and surprisingly this one ends up being a solid piece of late-night entertainment. At only 88 minutes, the movie cuts all the fluff and gets straight to the “ballistic ballet.” Of course, it’s not the best original Prime Video has made in recent years, but it’s colorful, violent, and doesn't take itself too seriously, making it perfect for a weekend watch.

“Pretty Lethal” follows a dysfunctional American ballet troupe stranded in rural Romania. After their bus breaks down on the way to a prestigious competition in Budapest, the five dancers seek refuge at a remote inn run by Devora Kasimer (Uma Thurman), a reclusive and sinister former prima ballerina. The girls soon discover the inn is a front for a brutal criminal enterprise. To survive the night, the fractured group must settle their petty rivalries and weaponize their years of elite physical discipline.

‘The Bluff’

Adding “The Bluff” to this list might be controversial for some, considering its Rotten Tomatoes score isn’t exactly glowing, but I’m going against the reviews on this one. If you like action-heavy revenge thrillers like “John Wick” or “Nobody,” you’ll likely enjoy this high-seas twist on the genre. The pirate setting feels refreshingly different compared to Prime’s usual offerings and serves as a strong showcase for a female-led action story. Just keep in mind this is far from a family-friendly “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) is a former pirate living a quiet, reformed life in the Cayman Islands. Her peace is shattered when her sadistic former captain, Connor (Karl Urban), arrives seeking a hidden treasure and revenge for a past betrayal. When Connor’s crew invades her home, Ercell is forced to reclaim her violent identity to protect her family. This is an R-rated survival thriller that trades the whimsy of typical pirate movies for brutal swordsmanship and seriously visceral island combat.
