5 new Netflix movies and shows you need to stream this week (June 1-7)
Don't miss 'Office Romance,' 'Michael Jackson: The Verdict' and more
Netflix is adding an impressive 62 new movies, shows and comedy specials to the streaming service this week. But there's one movie most people will definitely add to their watchlist: "Office Romance." This rom-com puts Jennifer Lopez and "Ted Lasso" star Brett Goldstein in the boardroom ... and perhaps on the boardroom table. If you love a spicy romantic comedy, you'll want to check it out.
But it's not the only thing you'll want to watch this week. "Michael Jackson: The Verdict" covers the King of Pop's controversial criminal trial from 2005, and it'll surely keep the discourse around Jackson alive and well. Especially given that the hit biopic, "Michael," left out this aspect of the music icon's life.
Those aren't the only movies, shows and live events to add to your watchlist this week, though. Here's the full schedule of everything new on Netflix over the next seven days, along with my top picks for what you need to stream. Don't forget to check out everything new on Netflix in June 2026 for even more movies and shows to check out.

New on Netflix this week: Top picks
'Office Romance'
Genre: Romantic comedy movie
What it's about: "Ted Lasso" alum Brett Goldstein stars in this rom-com as Daniel. He's a lawyer with a new client: airline CEO Jackie Cruz (Jennifer Lopez). He's supposed to defend her in court, but they quickly become distracted by the fact that they're both very attractive. They'll need to be careful, though. Their office romance might derail both their careers.
Why you should watch it: Based on the trailer, "Office Romance" seems like a typical rom-com. But if you like rom-coms, that's not really a bad thing. You get a great cast, a few laughs and some steamy scenes between two attractive leads. Fans of the genre won't necessarily need more than that.

'Michael Jackson: The Verdict'
Genre: Docuseries
What it's about: This three-part documentary show focuses on Michael Jackson's 2005 criminal trial regarding allegations of child sexual abuse. "Michael Jackson: The Verdict" dives into the allegations, revisits the trial and examines the public response to the shocking court case.
Why you should watch it: This docuseries combines interviews with jurors, eyewitnesses, journalists and archival footage. Plus, it covers the part of Jackson's past that the movie "Michael" left out. If you felt this year's biopic painted too rosy a picture of Jackson's life, this series will cover the more sordid details.

'The Murder of Rachel Nickell'
Genre: True crime documentary movie
What it's about: On July 15, 1992, Rachel Nickell was stabbed to death in broad daylight. A man stabbed her 49 times in the neck and torso, all in front of her two-year-old son. But justice wasn't swift. Instead, a man was wrongfully arrested, and the true killer wasn't convicted until 16 years later.
Why you should watch it: This crime is as stunning as it is tragic, especially when you account for the fact that Nickell's toddler witnessed the whole thing, unharmed but unaware of what happened. If you're a true crime fanatic, this will be a documentary you won't want to miss, but it won't be for the faint of heart.
Watch "The Murder of Rachel Nickell" on Netflix starting June 4
'The Witness'
Genre: True crime drama series
What it's about: "The Murder of Rachel Nickell" is one way to explore the tragedy that befell her and her family on that fateful day in 1992, but "The Witness" is another. It's not a documentary; instead, it's a three-part miniseries that stars Jordan Bolger as Rachel's partner, André, and Max Fincham as the teenage version of their son, who witnessed the brutal murder.
Why you should watch it: It's not often that you have the option of exploring a moment in history through a dramatization and a documentary, but they rarely arrive on the same day. So if watching a true crime documentary isn't your preference, this three-episode miniseries is another way to experience the horror of this tragedy.
Watch "The Witness" on Netflix starting June 4
"Poor Things"
Genre: Science fiction period drama movie
What it's about: "Poor Things" stars Emma Stone as Bella Baxter," a "monster" created by the film's proverbial Frankenstein, Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). She has the body of an adult woman, but the brain of an infant. But as her mental capacity returns, she undergoes a sexual awakening, which leads her to run off with the debaucherous Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo) to discover her true nature.
Why you should watch it: This movie is delightfully unhinged and is probably the best pairing of Stone with director Yorgos Lanthimos. It earned Stone her second Best Actress Oscar win and earned them both a Best Picture nomination. It's a must-watch if you've never seen it before.
