NordVPN has announced it has surpassed 100 Tbps (terabits per second) global server capacity.
The best VPN for most people described this as "a major network milestone," and it'll result in fewer bottlenecks, overcrowding, and faster speeds.
Faster, more reliable connections
NordVPN's milestone strengthens performance during peak times. This means you should experience less buffering, fewer bottlenecks, faster speeds, and smoother performance.
According to NordVPN, slowdowns during busy usage hours are due to insufficient capacity. However, NordVPN's upgraded network is "engineered" to avoid that. Servers now have "significant headroom," which can absorb the load when things get crowded.
The servers now operate at approximately one-third of their capacity, allowing for "burst performance during spikes" in traffic.
Marijus Briedis, CTO at NordVPN, said: "Great infrastructure is the kind you never notice. In practice, 100 Tbps means more room to absorb demand surges, which results in fewer bottlenecks when everyone comes online at the same time, and faster, more reliable connections users can actually feel."
Briedis added: "Crossing 100 Tbps is a foundation, not a ceiling. We're investing ahead of demand so that whether it's rush hour in New York or a global sports final, users get the speed and stability they expect."
Do you need to do anything?
No. These upgrades will automatically be incorporated into the NordVPN server network, and there's nothing you need to do – although it's always handy to ensure your NordVPN app is up to date.
As mentioned, you shouldn't experience slowdowns during peak times, and whether you're streaming or browsing, your NordVPN connection should remain stable.
