19 new countries since October '25

19 new countries have been introduced since October 2025, 16 of which have been in the last two weeks since March 31.

The new countries are:

• Andorra – Andorra La Vella
• Bolivia – La Paz
• Cameroon – Yaounde
• DR Congo – Kinshasa
• Gabon – Libreville
• Greenland – Nuuk
• Haiti – Port-au-Prince
• Jamaica – Kingston
• Kyrgyzstan – Bishkek
• Lebanon – Beirut
• Liechtenstein – Schaan
• Macau
• Monaco
• Nicaragua – Managua
• Palestine – Ramallah
• Papua New Guinea – Port Moresby
• Paraguay – Asuncion
• Uganda – Kampala
• Uruguay – Montevideo

As well as the new countries, new locations have been added to existing countries, and server capacity doubled in certain countries.

In a tweet, Proton VPN General Manager, David Peterson, said "over a thousand servers" have been added to 12 countries. Capacity had doubled in Croatia, Finland, Malaysia, and the UAE.

New locations in existing countries include:

Why country spread matters

As mentioned, this takes Proton VPN's server count to more than 19,700 in 145 countries worldwide.

It offers a number of unique countries, not served by its two biggest competitors, NordVPN and ExpressVPN. These include: Cameroon, DR Congo, Eritrea, Gabon, Haiti, Kyrgyzstan, Nicaragua, Palestine, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, and Uganda.

Peterson said Papua New Guinea isn't "usually the first to mind when thinking of internet censorship." However, it saw a large spike in Proton VPN usage when Facebook was blocked in March 2025.
