These days a great gaming PC can cost you thousands of dollars, but trust me — I review PCs for a living, and you don't need to spend an arm and a leg to have a great experience.
Labor Day is nearly here and now is a great time to be hunting for deals on a new machine. My personal favorite so far is this Alienware Aurora R16 with RTX 5060 Ti for $1,449 at Best Buy, which is $350 off the usual $1,799 asking price. That's one of the best Labor Day sales right now.
This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC delivers good performance for 1080p gaming thanks to its Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti (8 GB) GPU, 32GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1TB NVMe M.2 PCIe SSD. While this thing will probably struggle to deliver high-end gaming at 4K in 60 FPS, at 1080p or 1440p it should have no trouble delivering great performance.
The Alienware Aurora R16 has been our top pick for the best gaming PC on the market for some time thanks to its compact, stylish case and great performance. You can read all about it in our Alienware Aurora R16 review, which includes detailed lab testing results which show this discreet desktop delivers good performance for the price.
However, the model of Aurora R16 that Best Buy has on sale right now is more powerful than the one we reviewed since it comes with a mid-range Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti graphics card onboard. While it's not the most powerful RTX 50-series card you can get, this model (with 8GB of memory) should be more than capable enough to play the best Steam games at great framerates in 1080p or 1440p.
It will look cool doing it, too thanks to its glass side panel showcasing its internals, honeycomb cooling vents and subtle RGB lighting. Personally, I really love the way the R16 is so small and unobtrusive, because it's a nice change from the massive, flashy and loud gaming PCs we usually review.
The one thing you should know is that while the Aurora R16 looks great on a desk and is pretty easy to open up and mess around with, the proprietary design of the internals can make it a little frustrating to upgrade components down the road. It's not a huge problem unless you plan to be working inside the case a lot, but you should know before you buy.
But if you want to buy one I recommend you act fast, because I doubt this sale will last past Labor Day and I don't know how long supplies will last!
