These Batteries Can Be Recharged By Hand

Crank Case battery concept features rotating knob for wind-up charging.

Rechargeable batteries are great but in emergency situations where you can't plug them into an electrical outlet for power, they are completely useless. With this innovative design by Qian Jiang, you would be able to manually charge your AAA or AA batteries by simply winding them up for a few minutes. Winding for as little as 5 minutes would provide at least 45% battery life, enough to last quite some time. Of course one downside of these wind-up batteries is the fact that the capacity is limited due to space required for accommodation of the crank and winding pieces. Perhaps an external winding tool would make for a more convenient and capacity increasing design.Despite any limitations in capacity, the convenience of this battery concept comes from its versatile nature. If you have electrical power and don't feel like winding them up, they can be plugged into a wall socket to be charged in more conventional ways. In a culture that is engulfed in electronic gadgets, this concept is a must-have in the unfortunate event of an electrical crisis.
