Nazi Camp Auschwitz Gets Its Own Facebook Page

- By - Source : Tom's Guide US

The Auschwitz Museum has launched a Facebook page dedicated to the memory of the concentration camp and the victims who perished there.

Everyone's on Facebook these days. Parents, aunties, uncles, cousin you never knew you had. Similarly, it seems every company, organization and political party is "embracing social networking" and making a fan page or creating a group for customers, fans, enthusiasts and colleagues to join.

In search of new ways to reach out to people and educate them about the Holocaust, the Polish authorities in charge of Auschwitz have launched an official Auschwitz page on Facebook. The BBC cites Auschwitz Museum official Pawel Sawicki as asking, "If our mission is to educate the younger generation to be responsible in the contemporary world, what better tool can we use to reach them than the tools they use themselves?"

The launch of the Facebook page comes shortly after the launch of an official YouTube channel and will display news, links to YouTube videos and the official website as well as a discussion board that.

"The Facebook page will provide a place for discussion which is not available on the official website," Mr Sawicki told the BBC. Sawicki went on to say that while they wouldn't "let anyone do anything that may abuse the memory of the victims and this place," the page is just an experiment and that they're going to wait and see how people react. The Guardian reports that over 1,300 people have joined in the two days the page has been online.

[UPDATE] The site seems to have disappeared from Facebook. No word on why just yet but we'll keep you posted.

You misspelled "Facebook" in the article above. You have it as "Facebok" -- which sounds like a subsidiary of the Reebok company.

It'd be nice to provide a link with it.Besides, in about 15 years, there will be no WW2 survivor left, and it will be forgotten just like any other war has been in the past 4000 years!

Never! It will always live on in Call of Duty lol.

That long key right there on the bottom of the keyboard, called the space bar. It's often used to signify the end of one word and the beginning of another. Or if used with punctuation, such as "." it can signify the end of a sentence.

How gullible can one be when one believes an event where:- There is not one single picture documenting the alleged atrocity. Go on, look for yourself. You simply cannot find one single wartime picture of a working gas chamber. All the pictures of the gas chambers are pictures taken after they were "reconstructed."- According to census data there wasn't even 6 million Jews under the jurisdiction of the Third Reich at its height.- The only evidence brought to the table supporting the idea of gas chambers came from the Communists.- "Confessions" were extracted from Nazi official by means of torture. When I say torture I'm talking old school. None of this sissy boy waterboarding nonsense. So yea, if you still believe the holohoax myth I've got a bridge to sell you.

You TOOL.

So do the Nazi's sign up or the Jews? It'd be weird if they both became friends and started poking each other.
