iTunes 9: Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm Spyshots
Word on the street is iTunes 9 will include integration for Twitter, Facebook , and Last.fm.
Boy Genius Report has some screenshots of what supposedly is iTunes 9 and, while the site starts by making sure everyone in the audience has their grains of salt at the ready, the images are actually quite interesting.
Most of you probably won't care about the Twitter or Facebook parts. However, what might actually be kind of cool, if it proves true, is the Last.fm integration. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the site, Last.fm builds a detailed profile of your music tastes by gathering information from your iTunes, or music that you're streaming. All of this information is then posted to your Last.fm profile, which goes on to help you find other music you might like.
Previous reports from BGR hinted at Facebook/Twitter/Last.fm integration so these screengrabs match up nicely with that. However, BGR's source also said there'd be Blu-ray support, which is the juiciest part of the rumor by a long shot. Didn't Steve Jobs refer to Blu-ray as a bag of hurt a while back?

Yay more bloat. Hope you guys enjoy it!
yay, Last.fm integration! No more plugins! I definitely welcome that.
I'm holding out on twitter, I feel like being the last person on the internet to visit twitter
I never go to it.
Oh Apple the big innovator. Amarak & Songbird both already have last.fm integration and manage to be much less bloated than Itunes.
And +1 to not caring about Facebook and Twitter integration.
I'm holding out on twitter, I feel like being the last person on the internet to visit twitter I never go to it.
me and you both.
Honestly, this looks like a refreshing integration. I still hate the bloat though. I download and install iTunes but it includes the following: Quicktime player, Bonjour Service, Apple Mobile Device Support, iTuneshelper.exe. All this crap runs in the background 24/7 when all I want is iTunes to sync my 5th Gen iPod. Bonjour is for sharing libraries over a network, that doesn't apply to me. Apple Mobile Device support, well I don't have an iPhone so let's scratch that. Quicktime player, I hate quicktime and never use it, just install the codecs (required for iTunes) without the player. iTuneshelper, what the hell is that?
rooket and thepetey:
I am in for a three way race for the last to visit twitter.
So Apple is taking all the good plugins and apps and rolling them into iTunes and the iPhone, making it a more closed system? Sounds good to me. /Sarcasm
So..... itunes is becoming more and more like Windows Media player with bloat buttons for Napster, and other online stuff?
I just miss the old mp3 player with visualization.
Too bad it will break every Windows-based PC out there...
I'm holding out on twitter, I feel like being the last person on the internet to visit twitter I never go to it.
You cannot be the last person to visit the site because I'm going to be the last.
You cannot be the last person to visit the site because I'm going to be the last.
Nope, sorry guys, that's going to be me....
I'll one up you guys and say that I won't go to Twitter or Facebook. Useless garbage if you ask me. I haven't used my MySpace account in months.
iTunes is going to be bogged down just like WMP 11.
Guys, shut up with this "I'm going to be the last person on Twitter" non-sense. We all know I'M goingf to be the last person on Twitter. And, then again, I'll probly never even go there. Facebook is the best (worst?) I can endure...
I'll stick with VLC
Oh joy. Now that next "iTunes update" will include a massive 100 MB download. I can't wait.
BTW, my gravestone will read "This fucker never visited Twitter."
