Bill Gates is on tour right now. While he's not doing gigs as a solo rock star, he is gathering crowds in front of stages. On his multi-campus tour of UC Berkeley, he spoke in a class room where the main topic was on social media.
One of the off topic questions, however, was about Steve Jobs and the iPad.
You once said Steve Jobs could see the next big thing. Do you like the iPad?
It's okay. The scenarios aren't that clear. But it's good looking. [Steve Jobs] does good design, and [the iPad] is absolutely a good example of that.

Because this honestly isn't true. It's not a "wonderful", or "end all be all" device, but it DOES do more than an iPhone or Touch. These are merely ignorant assumptions made by most THG users who most likely have not taken a serious look at the iPad who simply regurgitate myths.
I hate how Jobs gets credit for designing all these products that Apple's engineers have spent thousands of hours designing.
I travel 200K miles a year and for me this device is incredible. A single charge lasts a flight to Asia. I can do my email, read books, watch videos, and most importantly - use it in a coach seat that my laptop doesn't fit in. It will not replace my laptop, but will definitely complement it.
This is the best portable device for consuming content of all types that I've ever used.

I've flown overseas before, took about 15 hours from Vancouver to Hong Kong. I'd like to see the iPad last 2/3 of that flight.

I just can't simply be tethered to a device like this. I feel I would break it. I don't mind having something a little more cumbersome that weighs a bit so I feel it's rugged enough for me. Otherwise I'll need the Best Buy "you fuck it up and we'll replace it" type of warranty. They keep building mobile products that simply can't handle abuse. The day that Apple makes a mobile device that is meant to be in a "man's" hands, I will probably take it for a test drive.

my windows comp cost 4 times as much and I use it for GAMES ONLY. I have another Workstation comp that I setup cost 2 and 1/2 times as much as my GAMES comp for work only.
