A fugitive fled to Cancun and boasted about his "fun" on Facebook.
One would think that--while running from the law--staying away from public areas, whether they're online or offline, would be the ideal situation. Fugitive Maxi Sopo obviously didn't think along those lines, and thus inadvertently revealed his whereabouts to law enforcement using Facebook.
Apparently, the 26-year-old native of Cameroon was hiding out on the beaches of Cancun by day, and then hitting the clubs at night. Instead of keeping it cool and remaining inconspicuous, he jumped on Facebook and decided to update his status about how much fun he was having.
"LIFE IS VERY SIMPLE REALLY!!!!" he wrote on June 21. "BUT SOME OF US HUMANS MAKE A MESS OF IT...REMEMBER AM JUST HERE TO HAVE FUN PARTEEEEEEE."
MSNBC said that Sopo was finally caught after he added a former Justice Department official to his friends list. Now he sits in a Mexico City jail where he's awaiting extraction to the United States. Sopo will be charged for bank fraud after falsely obtaining more than $200,000 from Seattle-area banks and credit unions.

Now his ass is going to be a party place.
Idiot. Not only did he get caught, but he typed his entire status update with caps lock on.
Idiot is the only word you need to describe this guy...
Well to be fair the friend was added a while ago and the FBI actually combed his friends list and found one of his friends listed the justice department as his former place of work and his profile was set to private.
They talked to his friend and the friend then spied on him through facebook until the cops could track him down and finally nab him.
So while he was stupid, it wasn't totally due to the facebook as the culprit. Please do more complete reporting in the future.

Yes, a criminal who uses facebook can speak for us all. I think this speaks more to the intelligence of criminals...
Pretty sure it can only speak to the intelligence of the man himself.
The man is a moron, kudos to the Mexican police for apprehending him.
Why did he do: "added a former Justice Department official to his friends list"????????
extraction -> extradition
Now his ass is going to be a party place.
Bubba like PARTEEEEEEEs.
Why did he do: "added a former Justice Department official to his friends list"????????
He's probably one of these idiots who just wants to have hundreds of people on his friends list, and accepts anyone who asks. The Justice Department official probably sent a friend request hoping to achieve this very outcome.
Stupid criminals... gotta love em! They're entertaining AND low-maintanence!
And he even has a suitable jailbird name - Max Soap - as in showering with violent felons who's holding back a lot of pent up energy, well,... you get the picture. Not sure if prisoners are allowed Internet and Facebook while they serve in The Pen but I'm interested if he'll maintain his Facebook and post a picture of his new high secuity house and striped suit.

Did he give some to charity? If not, let him rot in prison. Because this is irresponsibilty at its highest. Somebody tell me what his long term goals were.
