Facebook Movie Tops Box Office; 97% RT Score
Movie fans are flocking to see David Fincher's latest work.
The Social Network, a controversial movie about Mark Zuckerberg and the founding of popular social networking site Facebook, has topped the box office. The Aaron Sorkin film raked in $23 million in it's first couple of days in theaters and has obtained a rating of 97 percent on review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite its obvious popularity with the movie-going public, Zuckerberg recently told Oprah Winfrey that the movie is not an accurate representation of the birth of Facebook and that he wished the last few years of his life had been so dramatic.
"This is my life, so I know it's not that dramatic," the 26-year-old told Oprah in an interview. "The last six years have been a lot of coding and focus and hardwork. But you know, maybe it would be fun to remember it as partying and all this crazy drama, so you know, who knows. Maybe it will be an interesting story."
The Social Network was directed by Fight Club's David Fincher, produced by Kevin Spacey, and the screenplay was written by Aaron Sorkin of West Wing fame. Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor did the soundtrack and the story itself is based on Ben Mezrich's book, The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding Of Facebook, A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal. Jesse Eisenberg plays a young Mark Zuckerberg, starring alongside Justin Timberlake, Rooney Mara, and Andrew Garfield.

Is that an official trailer? Its awful, and really doesn't do the movie any justice.
Grrrr....Its a propaganda film....
I will never see this movie. As I plan to go on my entire life without seeing Avatar.

You mean pocahontas.
You mean pocahontas.
Or The Last Samurai. Or Dances with Wolves. Or... (?)
"dumb F#$%'s"
I kinda expected this movie to do so-so or flop. I guess I was wrong. Doubt I'll change my mind on watching it, either way.
what's facebook?
Personally thought it was actually alot better then i thought didn't think they could make an interesting movie about something i use everyday
trent reznor did the soundtrack...really well done
I will never see this movie. As I plan to go on my entire life without seeing Avatar.
And you will never own products from xxxx or yyyy either.
Yet you'll undoubtedly be able to form an opinion of them anyway and post it on Tom's.
You people talking shit about this movie are comical. It's one of the best of the year, easily. Incredibly entertaining and an interesting take on the creation of something that almost everyone under 30 uses.
what's facebook?
Did you mean, "what is a facebook?" Lol, I kid.
Also, wtf is up with all the spam lately?
Or The Last Samurai. Or Dances with Wolves. Or... (?)
Titanic for me.
But this movie kind of stole the new Wall Street's thunder dinnit? Essentially it IS Wall Street II.
i saw it. it was excellent
Ferngully: The last rainforest is as close to Avatar as Pocahontas is, Avatar is like a hybrid of those two movies
What is it with you people that think that, because something is popular, it can't be worth watching? What a stupid philosophy. The only person you hurt is yourself! Like everything, some popular movies are great - Titanic, Star Wars, for example... And some suck, like American Beauty, and There's Something About Mary...
Get your arrogant asses off your high horses. You are no better than the rest of us.
I think they made Sean Parker look like more of a jerk. They actually made Mark look kind of human showing a tendency toward Asperger's Syndrome.
What's next, a movie about twitter... c'mon Hollywood.

I can see the movie slogan now:
"You can't say something in 140 words without making a few enemies"
I saw the movie yesterday, it was a great movie. But I felt depressed cuz all the computer scientists there are like 100 times better than me.
People ragging on Avatar makes me laugh. Of course the plot is predictable. It is the special effects and "feel" of the whole world they created that was so impressive. The plot was just an afterthought.

Ferngully in Space?

Why lol be and individual and not a yuppie. Life isn't about subscribing to group think and being a carbon copy of the moron next to you but being someone who stands out no matter what.
this is pretty sad and it reflect that most people has 75 IQ....
i wonder what is the base IQ of Facebook addicted and sees movies like that...
Facebook... was forced to make an account, only go on when someone sends me a private message, or about once every two weeks. why do people like the damn thing so much?
Sorry, I make it a habit not to buy political hack books nor wunderkind vainglorious homage movies.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Umm... American Beauty = awesome movie. Easily better than Titanic in every way which you listed as a "great" movie.
Something about Mary had it's moments too, not so great a movie but it was memorable.
Oh well, different people have different tastes.

I don't want to jump the gun or anything, but that statement is basically full of shit.
See you in 30 years.
If this movie is mentioned alongside films like "On The Waterfront" or "Citizen Kane" I will show my backside in Macy's front window.
Exactly how are you rating this movies excellence?
Story? - Bogus, even Mark Zuckerberg said it wasn't accurate
Direction? - Fincher is good but even Spielberg had the occasional stinker
Soundtrack? - Trent Reznor will never get an Oscar for anything
Acting? - Justin Timberlake, give me a break
No serious film critic is going to rate this above 3 stars out of 5 and in 12 months time it will join a long list of films that no-one ever remembers
OK, so maybe i'm being mean and trying to pass it too high, after all not every movie in the world can be "All The President's Men" or "Gone With The Wind" but not only is it not a great movie, it's not even particularly a good movie - and the hook being that because 500 million people use Facebook so I should watch it is so stupid I couldn't even being to start tearing holes in that idea, maybe I should start with a film about the formation of Microsoft, or Ford, or IBM. Soporic, boring, dull, relentless trash.
Either provide me with an intelligent masterpiece that film lovers will cherish for decades or give me a mindless action movie laced with CGI - but a pseudo-biopic where the plot is made up and the actors are Z-list at best is not ticking a lot of boxes for me.
