Facebook Cuts the Crap for Facebook Lite

Facebook has officially launched Facebook Lite for all users accessing the English version of the site.
Facebook accidentally announced Facebook Lite a few weeks back. The new site, which can be found at lite.facebook.com, is basically a slimmed down version of Facebook without all the apps and clutter that slow down load times and clog up your page.
Currently only available to those of you who use Facebook in English, the company says it's working on translating it into other languages. This version of Facebook is going to be really handy for when you're browsing on a super slow web connection or from your phone. That said, how many of you are happy that Facebook has finally launched a version of the site that cuts out all the rubbish? We can see ourselves logging onto Facebook Lite on a regular basis just to keep in touch with friends and look at photos. Do you really need to do anything else? Let us know in the comments below!
Check out Facebook Lite now at http://lite.facebook.com.

Better, but still Facebook!
Finally, no more crappy apps. Those apps really make a mess of things and increase the spam count tremendously. Not too mention just how stupid most of them are.
Thank god. I'm tired of seeing "Bob needs your help in Mafia Wars" spam.
Hey, maybe they are on their way to including basic features like categories of 'friends' (family, long-ago, etc. a la tabs)

Fixed: "Facebook Cuts the Crap out for Facebook Lite"
If Facebook cut out *ALL* the crap...they'd get a web based yearbook/ Teen Magazine thingy that all the little 13yrs old - 16yrs old rave about. Which doesn't help society much either.

What Facebook could really use is a better way to manage your "friends." I'd like to be able to distinguish between people who are my real-life friends, good friends, Internet friends, etc. I would also love the ability to mute friends (some people have nothing better to do that post crap on Facebook all day long and it's tantamount to spam).
Will they still allow girls traped in a well to update their page?

I am sitting in front of the TV now.
I am walking to the bathroom.
I am eating popcorn.
I am washing my hands.
I have no life.
Win!
The page won't load for me. Firefox issue? More likely it's just me
i hate social networks, but really like facebook, probably because my youngest facebook friend is 25, we all use it to keep in touch and share photos of recent partys and holidays kids growing up, new house, new car, planning social events and the like, really useful.
i traveled a lot, so i keep in touch with people i met from all over the world
I HATE TWITTER
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there doesn't seem to be chat in it.

Well, it's even worse than that. I got a friend invite from an old friend who I hadn't seen or heard from since high school. Of course, I accepted. But she is a hardcore, extreme, liberal activist now and she spams these stupid news articles (along with her no-so-insightful commentary) all damn day. I just ignore it, but it's to the point where I'm considering dropping her as a friend. It would be so much nicer if I could just mute her wall updates.
WHERE IS THE CHAT!
Facebook lets you hide annoying friends' updates, just click on the "Hide" button next to an update from a friend you do not want to see any longer.
It also lets you categorise your friends, you just need to set up the categories yourself. Check the security settings or google a how to, takes only a second.
Not anyone I meet online can see my pics, e.g., and only my real life friends can see my phone number.
They should have a feature which immediately deletes anyone who complains about Mondays/current news events/the weather/.
jellico: you can do that you know... click on the button next to her next wall post and click remove... a window should pop up and ask if you want to ignore any future posts from that person... viola!

Oh ok, I'll have to try that. Thanks! (as you can see, I'm far from a Facebook expert).

You've been able to do this for some time, now. On the left of the Home page, you can create Lists. Great way to separate the good and the bad (though you could just unfriend people).

If they cut all the crap there would be nothing there.. clearly they havent done much
So, you can be a pathetic mass social networking junkie, but lite. So, now you can only search for 10 uderage girls a day?
Well, tbh the whole facebook deal was sad for me knowing that everyone used it to a big bad extend and made me hate it before i use it. Go with the flow isnt my kind of thing and i react too much and easily. I did get too curious a few months ago to make a damn account ( i know, shame on me ) and SEE it. I got one or 2 things that i replied to. I never use it. So ugly, so nastily filled with apps which are so, oh SO annoying!
Now facebook sounds good but still not for me. I Couldn't use my myspace, my Hi5 and I wont change my habits for facebook so they can make it bigger.

Lite is way better!
