My favorite rugged smartwatch is 33% off — 5 reasons I recommend the Garmin Instinct 3
Save $150 right now
As a wearables expert, I’m often asked what the best smartwatch is. When it comes to logging outdoor adventures, the answer is easy: The Garmin Instinct 3. Rugged and reliable, it’s my go-to when hiking, snowboarding, snowmobiling, cycling, kayaking, swimming, and so much more.
Normally priced at $449, the Garmin Instinct 3 AMOLED is on sale for just $299 for Amazon Prime Day. That’s a savings of 33%.
Need some convincing? Here are the five biggest reasons why I highly recommend the Garmin Instinct 3 right now.
The Garmin Instinct 3 is a sporty, rugged, long-lasting smartwatch built with outdoor adventurers in mind. Solid GPS performance, reliable heart rate and sleep tracking, and a nifty built-in LED flashlight all add to its appeal.
1. Rugged design with serious waterproofing
The Garmin Instinct 3 is designed for folks who enjoy extreme activities, but that doesn’t mean you need to be a daredevil to rock one. That said, it boasts 100 meters of water resistance; more than the Apple Watch 11 or Galaxy Watch 8. This is enough for high-impact watersports and even scuba diving.
The Instinct 3 is also shock and drop-proof with a generously sized metal-reinforced bezel for ample screen protection. For cold-weather sports enthusiasts, the buttons are grippy and large enough to use with gloves on.
2. Rock-solid GPS and heart rate tracking
I spent a lot of time testing the Garmin Instinct 3 in the mountains, on the trails, and even while "urban hiking." GPS performance is rock-solid when compared to other proven tracking methods. The same is true for elevation data.
Of course, the Instinct 3 is much more than just a GPS watch; it also tracks your heart rate 24/7, records extensive sleep data, and provides actionable post-workout insights.
3. Epic battery life
If there’s a longer-lasting smartwatch in the universe, I’m not aware of it. The standard Garmin Instinct 3 (AMOLED) models last for up to 18 days (45mm) or 24 days (50mm) per charge. Meanwhile, the Instinct 3 Solar can cruise for over 100 days for the smaller model and 150 days for the larger one before you’ll need to plug in.
4. A handy onboard LED flashlight to light your way
One of my favorite design elements on the Instinct 3 is a high-power LED flashlight tucked into the case at the top. You can adjust the power output and even switch the output to red during activities like stargazing or photo developing.
I seriously use this small but mighty light all the time, from illuminating my way during late-night dog walks to locating a lost phone under the bed.
5. It's 33% off
The best reason to buy the Garmin Instinct 3 right now? It’s on sale for 33% off (45mm AMOLED), which is just about the lowest price I’ve seen it go for. Of course, if you prefer the larger model, the 50mm Instinct 3 AMOLED is also on sale for 30% off at Amazon.
The 45mm Instinct 3 Solar, meanwhile, is reduced 25% at Amazon, and the 50mm Instinct 3 Solar is on sale for 22% off on Amazon.
