I started running about 20+ years ago. What started as a dreary workout to lose weight has evolved into a slightly insane obsession. I love running and I now find myself hitting the pavement (or treadmill) even on "rest" days.
So if you're new to running or looking for recs on the best apparel, I can help. Over the years I've gone through dozens of running shorts, shirts, and sneakers. Whether it's my favorite shorts for long distance runs or my favorite sneakers when hitting the pavement, below I'm highlighting the gear I trust and use right now.

My favorite running gear
I can't recommend these shorts enough. First, they're very comfy with an elastic (but secure) waistband that stays in place even during the most intense HIIT sessions. I also appreciate the zippered side pockets where I can store my ID when running outdoors. The shorts are made of a slightly perforated, fast-drying fabric, which means they won't get heavy and weigh you down on those sweaty, humid runs. (Don't worry, they're not revealing). Are there cheaper options, yes, but these are my favorite by far.

I sweat like a maniac when I run and through the years I've found that soccer jerseys are the best at moderating my body temp. With the World Cup around the corner, I've been wearing my favorite team's gear and this Adidas Argentina jersey is a steal at just $50. It uses Adidas' AEROREADY technology to wick away sweat from your body and although it won't keep you 100% dry, it's the best I've worn.

The 5-inch Lululemon Pace Breaker Lined Shorts are my second favorite shorts for running. They're lightweight, stretchy, and their streamlined fit provides plenty of breathing room for my quads and hamstrings. I also appreciate the side pocket built into the inner lining, which I use to store my ID. However, they do get a bit heavy if you're prone to sweating a lot, so I like these for the treadmill or short distance runs.

Running with the Saucony Hurricane 24 is like running on clouds. They use PWRRUN+ foam, which cushions your feet while still feeling springy. With a wide base and rocker design, it offers a stable and comfortable ride for longer or easy runs. The breathable mesh upper fits securely without being tight.

Every now and then I enjoy running at night, and when the sun is down and the wind is relentless I rely on this GOREWEAR Windbreaker. It has reflective details so you're visible at night and it's water-repellent, so it'll keep you dry if you run into the random spring shower. It's also super light so it doesn't even feel like you're wearing something.
