I ran 70 miles in the Nike Zoom Fly 6 and I just spotted it in the Nike sale — here’s why I think this is a great deal

I’ve tested every generation of the Nike Zoom Fly running shoe and frankly a lot of them haven’t been great. The original Zoom Fly was fantastic, but the next four versions got progressively heavier, less springy, and less fun to run.

The Nike Zoom Fly 6 was a stunning return to form, and I think it's the best version of the shoe yet. It has a dual-density midsole with a generous layer of bouncy ZoomX foam which, along with the plate in its midsole, creates a ride that’s both comfortable and quick.

There are two colors of the men’s Zoom Fly 6 and two of the women’s Zoom Fly 6 included in this deal, which reduces the most versatile training shoe in Nike’s line-up to $135. The Zoom Fly 6 combines springy cushioning with a plate to create a fast, fun ride that works well for all kinds of runs.

The Nike Zoom Fly 6 is a ‘super-trainer’, which is a type of shoe that uses some of the tech from the best carbon plate running shoes in a sneaker that’s cheaper and more suitable for daily training, rather than just being good for race day.

I found that all these ingredients added up to a lightweight, bouncy shoe that’s still very fast.

In this case the Zoom Fly 6 has the springy ZoomX foam used in racers like the Nike Alphafly 3, along with a full length carbon plate that’s more flexible than the plates used on pure racing shoes, which makes the Zoom Fly 6 more comfortable to use regularly.

It also has a plusher upper and a more durable outsole design, and along with ZoomX uses another foam in its midsole to make the Zoom Fly 6 more stable and long-lasting than a racer like the Alphafly.

I found that all these ingredients added up to a lightweight, bouncy shoe that’s still very fast — you could definitely use the Zoom Fly 6 for your racers — but also cushioned and flexible enough to use for easy runs.

In my testing I used the Zoom Fly 6 for everything from easy recovery runs to track sessions and a 15-mile tempo run, and I enjoyed it on every run.

If you’re in need of a versatile trainer or a dedicated speed shoe, this deal is well worth looking at. Right now there are two colors and plenty of sizes available in the sale, including the special edition Eliud Kipchoge version of the Zoom Fly 6, which is particularly eye-catching.
