Update May 28: Dell's coupon has expired and the XPS 13 is back at $979.99 (which is still a respectable $230 off).
The Dell XPS 13 packs the perfect balance of style and performance. It's usually on sale for major holidays, but today is the first time we see the 256GB configuration on sale for under $1,000. (Keep in mind, this laptop will not be on sale for Amazon Prime Day, which makes this deal extra rare).
Currently, you can get the Dell XPS 13 (9380) w/ 256GB SSD for $979.99. That's $230 off and the best price we've seen this year for Dell's current-gen XPS 13.
The XPS 13 (9380) packs a 13.3-inch 1080p LCD, 1.6GHz Core i5-8265U quad-core CPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. Sister site LaptopMag gave the XPS 13 its Editor's Choice award and rated it one of the best laptops of 2019.
It offers an excellent LCD that can reproduce 119% of the sRGB gamut. That matches the MacBook Pro and beats the 117% category average. It also doesn't skimp on ports. It offers a pair of Thunderbolt 3 ports, USB Type-C, and a microSD card slot.
The backlit keyboard and touchpad are comfortable to use over extended periods of time and the laptop's webcam has finally been moved from the bottom bezel to the top bezel, where it rightfully belongs.
Dell also has the XPS 13 w/ 4K LCD on sale for $1,249.99 ($510 off). It packs a 4K LCD, 1.8GHz Core i7-8565U quad-core CPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. Just keep in mind that the 4K screen will use up more battery life. In our tests, the 4K laptop lasted just shy of 8 hours, which is below the 8:30 premium laptop average. (The 1080p model should offer better battery performance).
Dell's XPS 13 sale is valid through May 30.
