The best TV deal in Amazon’s Big Spring Sale is this 55-inch Samsung OLED for $897

If you intend to shop the shop the Amazon Big Spring Sale for a new TV, I’ve got to tell you about one deal in particular. Samsung’s entry-level OLED — a TV we recently awarded four stars in our review — is easily the best TV deal available at Amazon’s sale.

Right now, you can get the 55-inch Samsung S85F for just $897. It’s the cheapest way to get a 55-inch OLED TV at Amazon’s Big Spring Sale, and it’s a TV I really love, too.

Samsung's entry-level OLED may not be as much of a showstopper as the brand's flagship-level OLED TVs, but it's still offers all of the benefits we've come to expect from this incredible display technology, including perfect black levels and pixel-level dimming. It also comes with a useful array of gaming enhancements and streaming features.

The S85F brings all of the benefits we’ve come to expect from OLED display technology down to a friendlier price. As someone who values both picture quality and affordability, this makes it easy for me to recommend the S85F.

The S85F's picture isn't as bright as the mid-range Samsung S90F and the flagship-level S95F OLED, but thanks to the built-in advantages of OLED, it still produces a phenomenal picture. You're getting perfect black levels and pixel-level contrast control, which combine for a deep, detail-rich picture.

Yes, this TV isn't as bright as pricier, higher-end OLEDs. But in our Samsung S85F review, we commended this TV for being much brighter than LG's entry-level OLED, which — a direct competitor of the S85F.

For my money, the S85F's most valuable asset is its list of features. This TV offers many of the same enhancements as what you'll find on those higher-end Samsung OLEDs. It comes with a ton of streaming- and gaming-related features right out of the box, including support for 4K gaming at 120Hz across four HDMI 2.1 inputs.

The S845's built-in, Tizen-based smart platform isn't as easy to use as Google TV or Roku, but it's user interface has improved year over year and it supports a wide variety of downloadable streaming apps. In other words, it's good enough to serve as your everyday command center for streaming movies and shows.

By this time next week, Amazon's Big Spring Sale will be over. If you want to make the most out of it by saving money on an all-around great TV, the S85F is the deal I recommend.
