I keep recommending this 4-star Samsung OLED to anyone who will listen, and it just crashed to $897 at Amazon

If you’ve been toying with the idea of upgrading to an OLED TV but haven’t been able to shell out for their typically high prices, listen up: We’re in one of the best windows of the year to get a great deal on an OLED.

While nearly every major TV brand is busy boosting their brand-new models, last-year’s TVs are hitting all-time low prices. In many cases, these discounted TVs will be every bit as impressive as the newer model replacing them.

As new TVs roll out, prospective OLED-owners have their fair share of OLED TV deals to choose from. Right now, the 55-inch Samsung S85F OLED is just $897 at Amazon. This entry-level OLED TV offers all of the upside of OLED display technology for a price that won’t give you sticker shock. We should know — we just awarded it four stars. Here's why it's one of my favorite discounted OLEDs right now.

Samsung's entry-level OLED may not be as much of a showstopper as the brand's flagship-level OLED TVs, but it still offers all of the benefits we've come to expect from this incredible display technology, including perfect black levels and pixel-level dimming. It also comes with a useful array of gaming enhancements and streaming features.

Its performance may not be as eye-popping as OLEDs that cost thousands of dollars, but the S85F takes all of the benefits we love about OLED display technology for a friendlier price. You're getting perfect black levels, ultra-wide viewing angles and pixel-level dimming.

So while the S85F isn't as bright as pricier, higher-end OLEDs, you're still getting a remarkably rich, high-contrast picture. It's also plenty punchy for an entry-level OLED. In our Samsung S85F review, we commended this TV for being brighter than LG's entry-level OLED, the LG B5.

The S85F is hiding a surprising amount of features up its sleeve, too.

The S85F is hiding a surprising amount of features up its sleeve, too. It comes with many of the enhancements available on higher-end Samsung OLEDs, which only adds to the TV's value.

There's an array of streaming- and gaming-related features available right out of the box. On the gaming side of things, you're getting support for 4K gaming at 120Hz across four HDMI 2.1 inputs, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and FreeSync Premium.

As far as streaming goes, the S85F is more than capable of being your everyday driver. I don't find Samsung's Tizen-based smart platform to be as streamlined as Google TV or Roku, but it's pretty snappy and offers a ton of downloadable apps.

As new Samsung TVs roll out, the clock is ticking on the S85F. If you're looking for an affordable OLED experience, this is one I heartily recommend.
