Some users were aghast when a Wallet notification suddenly appeared, offering a discount on "F1 The Movie". This kind of promotion had never been tried before, and it pointed to a new direction for an app many have come to rely on to keep their passes and bank cards in one place.

Some may welcome the chance to save money or get a heads-up about something that interests them. Apple, at least, gives users a choice. You can go into Wallet settings and prevent offers and promotions from appearing as notifications in the future. Here’s how to do it.

1. Open the Wallet

First of all, open the Wallet app. You may already see promotions and offers but even if you don’t you can take action to prevent them appearing in future.

Just tap the three-dot icon in the top-right of the screen.

2. Select Notifications

When the menu appears, select Notifications. This will show you the types of notifications that can appear in your Wallet.

3. Turn off Offers & Promotions

The next step is just as simple. Toggle off Offers & Promotions.

And that’s it! You won’t receive any advertising in your Wallet, allowing you to continue using it to store the bank cards and passes that you’ve grown accustomed to keeping in there.
