When it comes to keeping our kitchens and bathrooms spotless, we often forget about the very area we use daily — the sink. And if there’s one thing I hate when keeping my kitchen sink area organized are water splashes on the countertop.
Be it from my son carelessly rinsing a glass and shaking it, to drips from hand wash liquid dispensers, these all would leave unsightly residue or stain on my countertops. Rather than have a paper towel at hand to quickly absorb drips, I needed something a bit more aesthetically pleasing.
That was until I heard about this water absorbing stone tray for just $9, that promises to instantly soak up spills in kitchens, bathrooms, or laundry room countertops. In fact, this somewhat game-changing product had previously gone viral on social media, and even a few of my friends now swear by it.
I was intrigued despite my skepticism. But this was mainly due to the fact that I'd tried and tested many cleaning hacks — with disappointing results. But could this absorbing stone tray finally be the answer to my worktop woes? I decided to give it a try — here’s what happened.
Combat water splashes with these handy stone trays. Made from diatomite material, this can instantly absorb water, leaving countertops and sink areas dry. It also comes with non-slip, silicone pads and easy to clean.
Here's what happened when I used my stone tray

So what makes this stone tray absorbent? Despite sounding 'gimmicky', the answer is all in the science. This super absorbent tray is made from Diatomite material/stone which is a natural, soft, chalklike sedimentary rock.
What makes it unique is its finely porous structure that is ideal for quickly soaking up water. This makes it perfect for keeping sink areas and countertops dry at all times.
I decided to place my dish soap and hand wash dispensers on the stone tray, as these were notorious for creating unsightly drops on my windowsill. What's more, this would often be subjected to water splashes from the faucet.

To experiment, I first squeezed soapy water onto the surface of the stone tray. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the stone tray absorbed water. In fact, it only took under two minutes (yes, I timed it), before it was bone dry again. Impressive.
Additionally, I liked the fact that I no longer had to wipe water sat on my countertops, saving me valuable time. Plus, this stone tray was an eye-catching way to make my sink area more presentable and tidy.
I would particularly recommend this stone tray for those with wooden countertops. Not only can these protect from water damage and stains, but even prevent mold caused by damp issues. Win-win!
Finally, I had solved my kitchen gripe, and have even bought another for my bathroom products. No more sopping wet surfaces — this 'miracle' drying stone tray is probably the best 'hack' yet.
